@NuVirus so I was just there on Thursday, and I can tell you that the issue with SN2 isn't with the pads...the pads are fine. I cleared some Challenge courses without a problem, and also passed some 10s with no pad issues. HOWEVER I did also witness the behavior you mentioned. I believe that there is some sort of sporadic electrical issue, possibly static or grounding related. I raised it to the tech and he'll look at it when he has the chance. I'm hoping he can fix it, because it's beyond my skillset.

Also, forgot to mention yesterday, apparently Sportime USA has gotten ahold of this obscure PIU bootleg, "King Of Dancer," which I've only seen once before...which was at Water World Amusements in Lower Manhattan, a few years ago. Didn't feel bothered enough to pay $2 just to try it out, but anyone else planning on visiting Sportime in the near future is free to find out for themselves what it's like. 4 years agoNuVirus
Just paid a visit to here today. ITG is in pretty good shape (P1 Up might be slightly undersensitive on the inner sensor though, but P2 works perfectly fine). But given how much content is on this machine now, that menu timer really needs to be extended to even at least 100 seconds. Right now, the current 40-45 second setting is really not enough.

DDR SN2 on the other hand...those sensors really are oversensitive. Somehow, both pads' Up & Right arrows have sensors that are so sensitive, you could play something on Beginner or Basic, and the sensors literally hit all the Up & Right arrows for you. The difficulty change sound effect sounding off constantly in the song selection screen got annoying really quickly though (since the Up arrow is triggering on it's own really frequently even then). This is probably playable just fine for a casual playing easy charts, but probably not so ideal for experienced players who are most likely trying to play higher level charts. 4 years agoNuVirus
Thank you so much for the update on the machines here at Sportime USA. I've been meaning to pay a visit here as of late, but had no idea what had become of the dance games here. Given the state of things in the past year or so, I'm honestly super relieved the ITG machine here at Sportime has survived all this time. During COVID, ITG's monitor died and was replaced with an LCD. Fortunately, it's not laggy. I worked on the SuperNOVA pads; they'd been modded by someone else, but poorly so, leading to oversensitivity and other issues. They seem pretty good now, but please post feedback. And oh yes, I upgraded the software to SuperNOVA2 today and entered all the unlock codes. Enjoy. Last bit of info: the owner sold DDR Extreme last week. And just after I'd replaced the game disc and worked on the pads, too. Bummer. 6 years agoyyr
I've noticed a few issues with the ITG 2P side recently as well. Generally I ask the techs to clean out the platform when this happens, and it then improves, so I'll be doing that again soon. ITG's 2P up arrow has been acting up a little bit, especially on harder songs where it's double-firing - nothing crazy, but more noticeable over the last few times I played this week as opposed to previous visits. 1P side and all other 2P arrows - no reported issues. 6 years agoyyr

Simply Love was my first choice but there is no demo play during Attract Mode. Actually, most of Attract Mode isn't very attractive. I can't use that in a location like Sportime where most of the traffic is casual. And we can't remove brackets because then, people could remove the arrow panels. 6 years agoNuVirus

NuVirus: as I mentioned, the manager actually wanted to reduce the timer because he felt that 50 seconds was too much (especially when you get that time for 3 songs per game). I explained to him that having at least 50 seconds is necessary because there are a lot of songs now, but he doesn't want it raised higher.
I will point out that you actually get about 15 more seconds than that, because while changing the currently highlighted song, the timer will stop (for up to 15 seconds, I think). I will think about adjusting this higher. 7 years agoyyr
Update 2 has been installed on the ITG machine! This is the second of five planned updates.
The following changes have been made:
- Previously, ITG3 and Rebirth were not the latest versions, so some songs/charts were either missing or unfinished. Now we have the latest versions. Please note that this means some high scores have been reset (since the charts have changed).
- Long Versions folder has been added. All of the songs in this folder are between 3:00 and 6:30 in length, and cover a wide range of difficulties. It's pretty much all Single though. Selecting a song in this folder counts as 2 songs out of your 3. (If you've already played 2 songs, this folder will not appear.)
- Super Expert folder has been added. Every song in this folder has one or more charts that are rated difficulty 15 or higher. Like the Experts Only folder, some of the songs have multiple difficulties but most have only Expert. Some of the songs are over 3 minutes and will count as 2 songs. (These will not appear if you've already played 2 songs.) A few songs that were previously in the Experts Only folder have been moved here; their high scores have been reset as a result.
That's all for now. The next update will feature a theme change =) Hopefully this will happen by late November. 7 years agoNuVirus

The manager specifically wants the menu timer on. Games were taking too long with it off. Also, when someone walks off mid-game (which happens frequently), this allows someone else to play without paying.
He actually also asked me if the amount of time for music select could be reduced (I told him no, which is sort of true as it requires a theme modification).
Anyway, I'll probably be going back this weekend and I will make sure it's on. If the manager finds it off, he may not trust me anymore; it could jeopardize my ability to update the machine in the future. 7 years agoNuVirus

Just played P2 on Extreme & SN1. Extreme's P2 seems to give random pad errors if the chart is dense/difficult enough. P2 Up on SN1 gets stuck very easily. Barely playable, unless you know of charts that barely use Up arrow. 7 years agoNuVirus

No, I don't know how to do that. I've never modified a platform. I think TheKamilia was working with a tech to do it on the DDR SuperNOVA machine, at least to the point where it's more like ITG. Honestly, I wouldn't attempt to do it myself; I'm sort of mechanically inept, and don't want to risk messing it up. But if you wanted to work with the manager and/or techs to do it, that'd be cool.
Also, due to colds (first my wife, now me) I haven't been back to apply the update yet. It should hopefully happen later this week. 7 years agoNuVirus
I guess I shall ask again. Do either of you know how to (or want to) raise/countersink the ITG pads? Ideally, higher level charts & modern day FA charts are best played on countersunk/raised pads (preferably without the inner brackets). That is the generally accepted standard for ITG pads. However, these pads are currently recessed, which takes away from the ability to perform well on such charts. 7 years agoyyr

ITG2 is now fixed! The monitor was either repaired or replaced (I can't tell), so it's NOT an LCD! It looks a hair darker than before but mostly the same. So the next update (ITG3/Rebirth fixes, Super Expert & Long Versions folders) should be live within a week. 7 years agoyyr

August 31st, one crash when browsing the ITG Rebirth 1 folder for a song pick (I was probably just taking too long to pick). I got the credit back though, so it was settled. 7 years agoyyr

2P pad on Extreme is definitely better, but still some pad misses on the left and up arrows; regardless, the machine is so quiet compared to Supernova and everything else going on in there, it's hard to play on. Supernova 2P pad is at 90% and was able to get some decent scores, but has anyone else had bad problems with the glare from the light behind the machine? 7 years agoTheKamilia

The 2P sides of both Extreme and SuperNOVA work very well now (thanks TheKamilia for working with the techs on this). ITG is still down. Unfortunately the manager is planning to replace the monitor with an LCD. I sent him an e-mail tonight basically begging him not to do this. I went there today to update ITG, only to find that its monitor is dead. I hope to talk to the tech about it soon; I want to make clear that we don't want an LCD in there! DDR Extreme's condition is improving; 2P side is excellent. I FCed the whole Naoki Neo-Standard course on it today; someone else played a few 10s on it and said the only misses were their own fault. 1P side isn't very good yet but I guess that's next. SuperNOVA is in bad shape, especially 2P side, so don't bother with it yet. Both DDR machines are now labeled 6 credits and that's what they cost. Right pad on Extreme is in pretty terrible shape. A decent number of pad misses / goods on the left and up arrows. Also, both the Extreme and SuperNova machines say they're 8 credits on the sticker - didn't actually check to see if that's how many credits it took from my card, but if that's the case, quite pricey for three songs. 7 years agoyyr

NuVirus: also, don't think that DDR location is "perfectly safe." With air hockey not far away, you could get smacked with a puck lol. It actually happened to me a long time ago at New Roc while I was playing a Double song on Pump PRO...I stepped to my left and WHAM! right in the nose. I thought I got punched, but I turned to my left and saw nothing. I can't remember if I made it 2:45 or the theme's default of 3:15, but it doesn't matter because only 1 song that I added is longer than 2:45, and it's over 4 minutes! I'll specifically be adding some long songs down the road; they'll all also be over 4 minutes as well, so they'll be squarely in 2-round territory.
As you may know, this limit only affects songs on the machine; USB custom songs are not affected (but please don't abuse this, especially if people are waiting). 7 years agoNuVirus

The machine is still running the original ITG2 theme, but I've made some changes:
- Before, songs shorter than 2:45 were counting as 2 rounds. This has been fixed.
- Additional speed mods have been added. You can now select x1 through x8 in 0.5x increments, and C300 through C900 in 50 BPM increments.
- Music Rate is now selectable at the bottom of the mod menu. You can choose between x1.0 and x1.5, in 0.1x increments.
- This one was a manager request: playing on Beginner no longer guarantees a full set of songs. Beginner now carries the same behavior as Easy: two songs are guaranteed, but game over if you fail Round 2.
- Related to the previous: Battle Mode is no longer selectable (it had guaranteed 3 songs). 7 years agoyyr

Swung by this morning to play for the first time here and the cabinet (the right pad at least) is in great shape! I've added the ITG3, Rebirth, and 8otb packs as I mentioned. There are over 500 new songs in total. Over the next 1-2 months I also plan to add more 14+ content, as well as content from DDR. I'll focus on songs from SuperNOVA 2 and later, as those games have never been at Sportime. 7 years agoyyr
warpdrive: The first customs are basically the handpicked packs used for the ITG division at 8otb's Kings/Champions of the Coast from 2010 through 2016. They range in difficulty from 9 to 15 and cover the whole range of skills. The majority are in the 11-12 range though. If you have recommendations for other/recent stuff please message me, I'd love to oblige.
I was planning to also add a folder for super hard stuff although that would come a bit later. Mr Grimm, if you could link me to any of these packs that'd be great too.
I had no plans to work on the platform. I'm not really qualified to do that anyway; my skill tops out around 11s/easy 12s, and to me, the machine feels perfect, so I figure I'm not the best candidate to make any changes to it. If you have suggestions or recommendations message me, but most of all, try to make a case as if you were talking to the owner. I was able to explain the benefits of adding content, but when the majority of the audience is casual/kids, it is harder to justify removing brackets, etc. 7 years agoMr Grimm
This is good news, few questions
1. Are the pads gonna be modified/Bracketless/ Countersunk?
2. Will there be recent packs like Pendulum Act 1 and 2. I mostly play Stamina nowadays so I kinda do want to get back to where I was before even though I could still do some hard stuff.

When you figure it out, let us know what the "excellent customs" are - at least in my case that's a big factor on whether I'd want to make the trip out.

Also, 10 years worth of machine stats have been cleared. This means that all the high scores are gone, but also that things should load much faster now. You also should be able to load more songs off USB than before. 7 years agoyyr
I met with the owner and head tech today. I'll personally be making the changes over the next few weeks. First I intend to add the ITG3 and Rebirth packs along with 300+ excellent customs from the last few years. Then I'll add content from recent versions of DDR, including A. Theme-wise, I'd prefer to use Simply Love, but the ITG3 theme is better for a casual audience and that's what Sportime has, so I'll likely start there.
The owner did insist on a few changes, though. The number of songs per credit has been lowered to 3 and the menu timer is now back on.
