So I know there are other Tales fans in here but honestly this game couldn't live up to the greatness that is Symphonia. All the other games created after Symphonia were crap D:
Storyline was terrible, battle system was wonky, characters were gay as hell. Everything was wrong. Just as bad as Legendia and Abyss combined.

So, you liked it? 
Ive only played Phantasia so im not sure how the newer games are, but Phantasia was awesome, much more different than any other RPG. Im assuming the sequels are more of the same + different story.

Phantasia was awesome, Eternia was awesome, Symphonia was awesome, Destiny I and II were okay, everything else is crap.

In general, I though this ToS:KoR was an okay game. I mean yeah, the difficulty in battle was slightly INSANE, and the over world map was gone, but I liked the ending and though it was good ending to Tales of Symphonia. As for Tales of the Abyss, I love that game WITH A PASSION, I though it was awesome from the moment I started playing it, and I think it's an awesome game now that I'm playing the Undubbed version of it. I don't now why you don't like Abyss, but I think it's one of the best titles in the Tales series. But i still think Tales of Vesperia is the best one, I like it because it's like Tales of the Abyss, but it's a little bit more tactical in the way the skill system works.
