So I can't figure out how the Extra Stage works on this game. Can someone explain it? I just sometimes get it and sometimes don't, I know there's something I'm doing different but I don't know what. Also, is there a reason Extra Stage is always Kimono Princess and the hardest I can play it is difficult?

You have to get an AA or better on all the songs in the set, which brings you to the Extra Stage.

The sum of the foot ratings of the songs you play determines the highest available difficulty on Kimono Princess - on a machine set to three songs per round (like the one local to me), a sum of 40 or more gives you Expert. Lower sums give you Difficult, Basic, and Beginner, but I don't know the cutoffs for those. Why Kimono Princess is always the extra stage, I don't know, but if you AA that on Expert roppongiEVOLVED still comes up as Encore Extra.

To elaborate, you need all AA's or AAA's on your songs to get Extra Stage. Additionally, you need a certain total difficulty on the charts you play before the Extra Stage to get different difficulties on KIMONO PRINCESS.
Beginner: Always available
Basic: 6*Number of stages+1
Difficult: 9*Number of stages+1
Expert: 13*Number of stages+1

Yeah, kinda like in MAX - MAX2 era. Imagine someone AAed Let the beat hit 'em! (almost not AA) on FINAL STAGE then MAX 300, locked on EXPERT, appeared.

Something similar was possible back when Replicant D-action was available. You could AA six songs on Basic (the six RDA extra stages), and then BOOM level 18 Valkyrie dimension Expert sudden death life bar.

Sorry for the bump but i need to be sure about something :
We still don't have any fix for the broken europeen cabs right ?
I mean, we all know that upgrading a X cab into X2 add the drift problem (among the other problems that we had before).
IIRC, Al or Brazen said that Konami were working on a fix... so ? Did i miss something ?
My friend just texted me because he was happy that on the place we use to play, they will upgrade the arcade to X2. So i want to know.

As far as I know, to absolutely get a machine that does not drift, they would have to buy a brand new DDR X2, the machine shown at EAG 2012 did not drift and did not exhibit pad problems for all three days. I believe Konami will not be making a fix for us.

Well, there is a ghetto fix if the arcade chain wants to replace the PC.

If you replace the PC from X1 with the PC that X2 uses, this fixes the sync entirely.

What exactly is the spec difference between the box in Betson Xs and X2s?

It's still on?? Don't they usually shut it off day one of the new game?

Are scores, data and other records carried over to X3?

Nope.
