Just read through the whole thread, and I have to say I've had a lot of this stuff happen to me before. Sometimes it's not too bad when toddlers walk around on the other pad when you're playing Singles (as long as they stay there, but most of the time there's a parent to stop them from getting too close).
Worst thing to happen to me mid-game? I was playing VS with a friend of mine on my local SuperNOVA cab, can't remember what song I was playing, but I was relatively new to the game so I'm gonna say it was a 6-footer. I was doing pretty well but then three guys who looked at LEAST 19 came over and sat down on the racing game next to the cab. I didn't mind too much, but then one of them put his foot over the right arrow and pretended to tie his shoelace
I failed that song of course, and even after telling them all to "fuck off", one of them had the nerve to ask me for €1 to play that racing game they were sitting at, saying I was just gonna waste it on "that little dancing game there".
I hate people like that, they obviously have no respect for other people who play at the arcade if they're just gonna waste someone else's credits by making it physically impossible to play the game =__="

I hear ya, lately the worst I get are people who stop/stare and maybe snigger a bit, so nothing unusual for someone playing a "dancing game" in public xD I even get quite a few compliments for a below-average player. There's always a mix of respectful people/annoying, trolling bastards I guess

I was playing DDR MEGAMIX (because almost all arcades in NW PA are cheap) and I had a group of people come watch. Luckily I had a friend of mine with me, because a group of assholes kept attempting to hold their foot on the down arrow while I was playing. She told them to knock it off twice, then the third time they tried to do it, she threw her (empty) box of fries at their face and they walked off.

I literally almost smacked some kids the other day because of this. I'm attempting to decide on a song and some kid runs across the pad, hitting the down arrow. Thankfully, all it did was move it to selecting edit steps. I'm not for jumping at people but he was clearly grown enough to know better. People don't have good sense these days and they don't respect other people's space, either.

Hitting the down arrow should change the difficulty to a harder one...
Also, I don't find it the kids being the problem most of the time as it is the older kids hitting puberty that strike me as more annoying.

Innocent children: Meh, whateve. Assuming it's not some serious shit or whatever. And even if they fail you, they'll pay back if you ask /cheapass
Kids around my age to older: "HEY YOU FUCK! What the fuck are you fuckin doing I paid my fucking money for this! Fuckin pay me! Fucking. Now."
That actually happened. I think I swear too much.

That doesn't sound like the greatest way to make friendships.

^This. The younger ones are generally more interested in the game than the player from what I've experienced.

They are mostly just fascinated how we get to hit arrows that go ever so fast.

True, the highest I've ever passed is a 13-footer though, and people who watch can still be surprised. What're the reactions like for a 15+? o_O

They don't say much.
They usually carry on with whatever it is they were doing.

Ah fair enough. I remember seeing a guy get a 280+ combo on [SAKURA] a few weeks after I started playing, I was quite amazed xD

2 of the machines I play on are on Joint Premium so if some little kid is pretending to play or sometimes I'll just ask if anyone wants to jump on beside me.
I was playing ITG once and these girls dressed as fairies (not even kidding), plus they were mayne 15-16, were hitting my feet with their wands. I was doing really good too. My friend who was standing on the P2 side was telling them to stop but they just started swearing at him. When I finished I somehow had a 99.92% (My best at the time on Charlene Expert), but I immediatley turned around and gave these girls this death stare and they were terrified, the one closest to me even flinched like she thought I was gonna hit her or something.

Wow, yeah.. I've had people step on the panels, run between the platform and screen, but hitting at your feet with fairy wands? That's kinda ridiculous..
