Activision will never bite. You know why? Slash/GnR and No Doubt lawsuits. This is why they killed DJ Hero alongside Guitar Hero; to eliminate future liability. No way are they getting back in the game. Konami? That would be interesting, wouldn't it? But after seeing what they're trying to do with jubeat/APPEND FESTIVAL and modern-age DDR... I don't know if it would be as shiny as what we've come to expect.
IMHO, Capcom seems the most likely candidate; as they've been the company to cross-produce the title for the Japanese audience; and their recent revival-success with titles like SSFIV and MvC3 have given them the leverage to make such a move, if they're inclined to. Now... playing MegaMan X stage BGM's in Rock Band 3? I can completely see that working on every level!

Harmonix's purchase was complete in December 23, 2010.
There were sold to an investment group, Columbus Nova, making Harmonix independent again.
