It oftenly happens here at the game center near my house.

Sometimes children run in front me,

sometimes children step on the other arrow pannel I'm not stepping on,

sometimes children shout beside and jumping as if they're playing too,

etc...

and the worst thing is... their parents back them up.

"girl is very beautifu"
This happens to me all the time because I usually play at a Dave and Busters. With little kids I just tell them flat-out to get off the pad, and that usually works.Teenagers don't do much. I believe this is probably because I am one. One time I even scored a number Cool

One time me and this other guy were playing and this random indian kid who must have been 16 just walked up, plugged in his iPod, and said "OK WE CAN DANCE TO GOOD MUSIC NOW."

Then he ran back and forth across the pad for a full minute. Then he unplugged his ipod and ran off.

I'm pretty sure he was special.

Whenever I play some little kid tries kicking at my shins. Fortunately, attempting to stamp on their feet usually stops that.

Unfortunately, boomba's descriptions fit mine accurately. And I've had the experience of stepping-someone-else-while-you-play as well. By playing afternoons and evenings, I've sidestepped most of these occurrences.

Thankfully the tricksters are just children. However, the machine I've been frequenting is situated right in front of a row of basketball shootout games, so there is always the fear that a runaway basketball will hurtle towards me while I play. Oops

As a younger person, I agree with this thread WHOLE-HEARTEDLY.

-Attempting to pass Destiny Expert, 3 small kids start jumping on the right pad, but I don't care so far (doesn't interfere). Then, one gets off and literally kicks my ass. (NOTE: I look 11-12. These kids were like, 6-7). I spewed out a few extremely vulgar sentences at them. They backed away.
-(Not me) A dude comes in with an enourmous combo (like, 200,000). He plays a few songs, then a little kid screams "I GOT THE LEFT ONE!!" I ran in fear of what I'd see
-doyduh i so tuff i kick 3yearold bitchez into teh time crisys macheen

Normally, though, I convince little kids to play the game since it's cheaper for me that way. Plus, occasionally, one will know how to play.

Kids and teens are so obnoxious at the break. One bitch was shaking one of our Technika2 machines so violently, i thought it was gonna fall on her, and I hoped it did. As I was playing IIDX, one of my friends came over, tossed her aside, cursed her out, and told her to get the fuck out. Haven't seen her since then ^^ another one broke the pop'n buttons, had to be replaced 3 times. There's also a lot of money grubbers in there too, asking us for quarters and such. I hate those fucking kids and teens who come in and stomp all over the place with their bikes and stuff, like they own the fucking place, and don't give a damn about anyone else or their surroundings. You got $10,000 to fix this cabinet if we have to buy a new one because you couldn't keep your hands off? Then don't fucking touch it!

Of course we have the occassional kids who stomp next to someone, but their ignored ^^ there aren't many competitive players around as much anymore.

Alright, so we all know that children frequent arcades these days, though they mostly go for the games that give out tickets. Anyone have any experience with a few unknowing little ones messing up your play somehow? I would say that the worst one I've seen was when I was trying to pass Uranus Challenge for the first time in an arcade, this baby who probably was barely old enough to walk just steps onto the empty spot next to me, and just starts bouncing randomly. I immediately thought, "This kid is gonna fuck me up, I know it." Well, to my surprise, the momma came by and shouted, "Dance ******, dance!" (Name censored) That's when I just exclaimed before the final stream at the end, "Better get your baby out of the way, I don't wanna knock into him!" I was fortunate enough to have the momma lift him right off the pad before he could just run into my space.
That's not really a children problem, that's a bitch problem. Tongue

Anyway my arcade is part of a casino and there's a daycare right next to the building, so kids don't come by as much. I've had kids take tokens from the token line before. (I made a whole thread about that awhile back.) I get more annoying frat boy a-holes then I do children TBH.

I think my best advice to give in this regard, is to play during the weekdays. All the keedz gots to go to skool and beez edumacated. So chances are, they're all staying home and doing homework, and I think the general public sees Friday and Saturday as being the prime days to go out and do stuff.

What if the places that have the machines to play on are only open during the weekend? That's how my arcade works =/
One False Move Challenge = WTF!?

I think I like that chart.

Append: I was playing some ITG chart with a long 16th stream and then some kid feels like interrupting my doubles play by helping me with one side. No. It's not two players, kid, it's doubles. DOUBLES. Annoyed

oh god....that happens all the time...or people think that the DDR stage is a walkway/short cut and walk on the machine just as you press start
i once had a kid i would say age under 3 walk onto the stage and i didnt know...obviously playing doubles i flattened the kid and the parent went off at me.....saying stuff like she would sue me and all that crap...some parents themselves are to wrapped up in getting tickets from redemption machines they forget their kids...

Let me, for one, welcome you into the group of those who have lost their post virginity, meganrgman.

What is worse is when the parents go "why did you take my kid's credit" when you insert a couple of credits to play next.

thanks for the welcome!!

yes i know what you mean
or have you put your coins/tokens up on the screen ledge (to play next) to find that a kid has either put them in the machine thinking you gave them a credit or they have just taken them.....

i say kidz under 5 should be on a leash or in a pram!!

Well, to be quite honest, if no one is nearby and there are like 5 credits on a machine...I would use them.

lolol gotta love kids.

Now to be honest, I honestly think kids are awesome, and when I see one next to me while I'm dancing, I have to smile. There is one time though when I was playing ORION.78 (AM-euro Mix) on Heavy, this little child (I think he looked 2) went in front of me and looked at me with innocent eyes. I had to stop, smile, and fail the song. My buddy said that I should have stomped his feet. lolno

i usually do, i used to love the arcade near me ITG2 was on joint premium, and people would always swipe their cashcard more than once to play 2 player...needless to say i never really paid to play ITG when it was there...

if there is a credit and there is no one there i say its anyones game!!

Happened to me once while I was playing the Centre Parcs Fusion. Two kid chavs were stomping on the pads pretending to play before I came on. While I was playing one of them was stomping loudly on the pad next to me and it was throwing off my accuracy. I told him sternly to get lost and they both went for a bit. They came back and started stomping again. My reaction? I yelled at them to "GET LOST!!!" so loud the bastards scampered instantaneously. I glanced back while playing and I saw them peeking out from a nearby machine; it was fucking hilarious how shit scared they looked. Next time I glanced back they were gone. Thank fuck for that. Big Grin

When the DDR machine was in the center of the arcade, occasionally some little kid would come up and start playing on one of the pads and I'd shoo him off and he wouldn't go because his/her parent's were somewhere else. Then they moved it and erased all the unlock codes (ugh) and nobody really plays it anymore.
