There are no new songs. It only adds the Master Level difficulty to all songs. It really does add a challenge. I thought i knew these routines 'till I played on Master.

Just picked up the game. I can finally write up what I think about it now...
GAMEPLAY...
-To start off it plays very well when it comes to actual movements of the body, however it somehow fails miserably when the game wants you to move your feet in time with the music. Getting a good score usually comes pretty easy as the game doesn't care what you are doing at all, as long as you are doing what the game wants you to at specific points during gameplay.
-Learning routines is impractical, there is no mode to break the routine down within the game which makes the game a lot less enjoyable.
-To access the bonus "Universe Mode" during gameplay they require you to stop what you are doing, hold your right arm out and slide the dance meter. This works out very poorly and its very difficult to access on higher difficulties as you will be missing notes.
7/10
GRAPHICS...
-Terrific. It looks like a game made for an XBOX 360 and the details seem to be very rich.
9.5/10
SOUNDTRACK...
-The music selection is small, but nice offering a nice spread selection over a few genres. BEMANI fans will be happy with the selection present here, however it might not be for others.
7/10
INTERFACE...
-Works very well usually. Sometimes the game will think you are sliding your hand over as you raise it to confirm a selection, but overall it never causes too many problems.
8.5/10
REPLAY VALUE...
-Medium. A mediocre size songlist, multiple difficulty levels play a major role when returning to this game. If you like the music you will want to play more on higher difficulties... if not then your SOL. A online mode is also available... With no one ever playing.
7/10
OVERALL VALUE...
-Dance Masters is simply an "okay game". Its fun, but it feels lacking. Its annoying when the game does not sense foot movements and its annoying that the game actually does not require you to dance, all it does is ask you to do the actions that are called for at a certain point in the song. Because the game is also lacking song-wise its hard to justify picking this game up when you compare it to Dance Central.
All in all Dance Masters isn't what you consider "masterful", just mediocre at this point. If Konami does return to make another game it would be great to have more licenses and a longer song list. Oh and advertising, I am sure many people don't even know this game exists.
FINAL SCORE - 7/10

the game actually does not require you to dance,
I must disagree with you on this point. Obviously on Light mode, you can match the poses and do nothing else. However, once you reach the higher difficulties (especially Expert and Master), if you aren't doing the dance as it should be performed, you are not going to hit all the ripples.
I noticed this specifically on the harder dances, such as SAKURA, AFRONOVA PRIMEVAL, and We Can Win The Fight. Attempting them on Master difficulty is very difficult even when I was quite familiar with the dance. It needs to be nearly automatic to get a AA or a AAA if you aren't doing the complete dance.
Also, I've rarely had trouble with it recognizing my feet. I've full comboed Can't Stop Fallin' in Love on Expert, and there's plenty of step ripples there.

Well, I don't want to argue over this, so I'll just leave it that I obviously enjoyed the game more than you, and we can move on with our lives. I'm sorry to hear the foot stepping didn't work out with you.

I was wondering, did Konami actually say there was going to be DLC with this game? If so, anyone has an idea when it'd be coming out? I'm getting tired of the little 30 songs there are...
Also, I thought DM Star was an unlock, but it seems not, can anyone confirm?

I dont recall seeing DM Star and as far as I can tell I have unlocked nothing yet. I have played almost every song and various difficulties with no new songs unlocked. wtf

Well, to unlock the secret songs, you have to play the 4-song Nonstop courses and get an overall of A on each of them. But I unlocked all the songs this way and I don't have DM Star, so I guess it's just the theme song...

Can't... Understand... Nihongo... Need Pie... Ugh
Also, who's the woman next to Naoki? She's pretty cute... and stuff.... What? I can't concentrate on what they're talking about so I need something to distract myself with besides quick online translating the chat.

Konami still needs to get to grips with proper DLC for music games...
Where are more songs for example?

They've decided people don't actually want songs in music games, which is why PS3 DDR DLC was also cancelled. They're now working on some new outfits for the background silhouettes!
Dance Central had DLC shortly after release. Music, no less. If KONAMI is serious about competing, they need to step it up. It's a shame because I really would like to see DanceMasters succeed, but at least around here, it's completely unknown. People say "dancing on Kinect" here and they mean Dance Central.

Not only that, you cannot choose your outfit in game. You have to delete the DLC off your Xbox to restore the original...
Also, a demo is available now:

That is really one weird way of programming it in. It kind of reminds me of community-made addons are installed for some PC games.ポスト #278 · 2011-01-19 04:29:57amにポスト 13.6年前

Which ten songs?
If someone can post the unlock criteria for songs here, that would be helpful.
