Well, you were expecting something to go with that StepMania 5 theme, didn't you? I had plotted both the TrotMania theme and pack at around the same time in August, but I've only really gotten back to work on that theme with the sudden burst of theming interest I obtained when I started building that DDR X3 vs. 2nd Mix theme. And now, it is time to get started on the second half of the project - a companion song pack.
ITS DONE! CHECK IT OUT!!
Songs
For the songs, obviously, the theme of this pack is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. This means a song must meet any of the following criteria:
-Be a song from the show
-Be a remix of a song from the show, or of the show (YTPMV, etc.)
-Be a song relating to the show in some way (i.e. original music inspired by the show)
-Be indirectly related to the show or its fandom (either an obscure connection, inside joke, etc. There will be few of these, note.)
For inspiration and potential song ideas, me and some #celestiaradio regulars compiled a list of some potential song ideas and what kind of difficulty you could get out of them.* Or, you could also listen to Celestia Radio for ideas, its an online radio station that effectively only plays songs that fit this criteria. (Okay, it's a bit out of date now since Season 2's final episodes were made of musical awesomeness)
*Yes, there is a connection to MLP:FIM in "Melting Pot of Alcohol": DJ AlexS also does pony remixes, but that Ghost guy chronically hates anything to do with MLP. "Money Success Fame Glamour" was also tangled up in a mess with Ghost too)
Since our track distribution/count will be influenced typical DDR home versions, I will be allowing "licenses" as well (it only counts towards this if it could fit in alongside the rest of the music, but is not directly/indirectly Pony-related)
If you are cutting the song, aim for around the 1:45-2:00 range. I will allow long versions on a case-by-case basis for songs that truly deserve it.
I am recommending the uniform use of OGG format files for this pack as well, with a quality level of at least 8-9 (its equalization to 320kbps for MP3)
Style
I'm aiming for a cross between DDR and ITG-style charts. You are allowed to use mines, rolls, and hand hits on higher leveled charts. If you wish to, you may use lifts and warps in charts (since I'm trying to showcase SM5's functionality too with this pack and theme), but I'd recommend, if possible, to keep them on maybe a gimmick difficulty. We need at least Basic through Expert (a.k.a. Filly through Stallion), but if you want to do Challenge (Lunatic) and/or Beginner (Foal), yes you can.
Graphics and Videos
Your simfiles must have a Jacket (a square banner, at least 256x256 - like DDR X2); StepMania 5's .ssc file format (and as of recently, ZIV's simfile system itself) supports specifying a separate Jacket graphic , and the TrotMania SM theme uses these when available. For the banner, you can use the traditional size, but it's up to you (I, personally, do a "normal" sized banner and a jacket) Backgrounds and videos should be in a widescreen aspect ratio, and yes If the song has a video or PMV to go with it, yes you can include it too.
Yes, you can use pony vectors (which are plentiful if you know how to look), just be sure to attribute them if needed)
Songlist
I'm personally aiming for about 50-70 songs in this pack as a whole.
Here's the Folder, of course

I made this. It's cluttered like crazy and was hastily prepared. I'll make a better one later, but before I go on, I'd love some suggestions to make it look better and well, not cluttered.

I'm working on a few simfiles myself, but as of right now they're long versions. If anyone wants to cut these songs for me, I'd be glad to do short ones as well - I'd do it myself, but the last time I tried to cut something it ended...poorly.
Luna (Assertive Fluttershy Mix) [I'd be doing the original, but it looks like someone here already has that covered]
Discord (EuroChaos Mix)
For The New Lunar Republic (Original, Lullaby's End mix, and the General Mumble remix)
Rainbow Dash Likes Girls
There's more, but that's plenty for now...just a few of the sims I've been working on/had in my planning list XD

A good track would be:
Happiness / Goldfrapp
It's an upbeat tune, can serve as the standard triplet tune, and has DDR relevance. Goldfrapp has been in multiple DDRs, SN2 and II, and she had a rare two tunes in SN2.
I'll step it, but I think graphics will have to be done by a bronie. Incidentally, would songs that have music videos like this and the Kanye West tune have to be MLPMV'ed? I actually have Happiness' music video.
EDIT: One more question, are album art banners to be 256 x 256 or 512 x 512?

Um, that looks absolutely gorgeous as it is *3* I think the "busy" look kind of suits it and actually wouldn't recommend changing a whole lot.

While it does have DDR relevance, I don't think it has any pony relevance, which is the point of this pack. :\

Have you heard the track? It's a really cheery tune (If ironic to the video), and I think it would have relevance to the pack. Unless this pack is more Eurobeat than Trance, in which case I'll stop...

at the rate we're going, most Pony remixes/original music are of the trance, house, eurobeat, and dubstep varieties.
I'll allow it, since I'm personally going to step that Felix da Housecat song, only because of this slightly Pony-related incident

The only reason I brought it up in the first place was has it ever been used in a pony project/pmv/remix etc. I just thought the pack was Pony-centric music is all ^^;

Even the "Disney Channel Edition" had songs that didn't quite relate to Disney Channel.

Understandable. Forgive my lack of sleep and overall stupidity. ^^
Actually on topic, when did you want these simfiles done by?

Not every song in Winx Club, DCE, or Disney's Rave, and, particularily for DR, worked in it's favor with more traditional DDR tunes (Night of Fire, Macarena, Twilight Zone), including licenses. The mood of the song fits the game, and that should be all that matters.
