and if we had added all the extra tags to .sm files then older versions of stepmania won't work

Surely you should be able to get around this by just deleting the .ssc if you import a changed .sm, right? I haven't actually tried this but it seems logical

That does seem to make sense, because maybe it's because SM5 probably has a priority to read .ssc files first, but read .sm and .dwi files as a later resort if no .ssc file is present in the simfile in question. I guess one possible solution is changing SM5 so that there's an option to either be able to or not be able to generate .ssc files when saving data onto a simfile. Or, just delete the .ssc everytime you save something...
Just great. When I tried to edit the title of a simfile on Stepmania 3.95, the following message came up:
The theme metric 'ScreenMiniMenuSongInformation-AllowOperatorMenuButton' is missing
Now, I can't even quit StepMania. It won't showing the message. How do I fix these two problems, the message, and the button?

Really, it just has to not export charts with split timing and make it easier to make charts that don't have split timing.
The editor will likely get improved sometime soon, though.

Yeah, it's the .ssc files screwing me up. I'm fine now. However, new problem detected. Everytime you press F5 or F6 when editing a chart on SM5's latest released Alpha version, it seems that the main SM5 starts playing, and the only way to stop the music is by quitting Stepmania, and reopening it. The only around this is by exiting from the chart editing screen back to selecting a chart, or difficulty to edit, then switching charts from there, rather than switching charts while in Edit Mode by pressing F5/F6.
Another problem, how do I cut, paste, or add mines while in Edit Mode on SM5?
I actually guessed that "m" does something. I got it now.
They could've at least put this in the legend shown by pressing F1.

"Noteskins !== Quality " |
dude look at the name
ALPHA
A-L-P-H-A
α
this might also help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Alpha
in other words its not finished yo
ok aside from being silly, what I'm trying to say is its in alpha there's bound to be bugs, what you just said has already been noted as a bug and is already fixed for next release, also the sm5 editor is so bugged man, still a load of development going on with it, its best to just download one of the stable releases for stepping, or use ddream, still use sm5 if you want, and if you do find bugs please send them to http://ssc.ajworld.net/sm-ssc/bugtracker/my_view_page.php so they can be looked at cuz the people that make sm only like look at ZIV like once per week or something? so yeah, also if you have ideas or w/e like put it in the legend you can also post it there yo.
