As you may have read in my last post my RTC chip has died. Discovered today that it isn't soldered direct to the board... so I popped it out and it is a M48T35-70PC1 even though M48T35-70PC1 is clearly printed on the motherboard.

I'm guessing the previous owner did the upgrade. If I'm reading the specs right the only difference is the memory size. Is there any practical reason why they would have changed the chip?

It should read M48T58Y-70PC1 is clearly printed on the motherboard.

I bought a M48T58Y-70PC1 and my Euromix 2 now works fine.
