It's not a Summer Contest until I do something related to a PS1 game.
I'll Torch Him! /Sparx Laarx
2/3 4/5 5/7 7/10 9/13
This is a rock cover/arrangement/whatever of the Artisans theme from the original Spyro The Dragon (with a little bit of the game's title screen music thrown in for good measure). I've been working on this file on and off again for a while and didn't have have much of a drive to finish it until just now. Hopefully it doesn't suck too badly.
No sheep were harmed in the making of this simfile. A few gnorcs, but no sheep.
Yes this arrangement has a lot of differences from the original. I asked Daffa about it, he gave the okay, so I'm doing it.

If nothing else, at least I like the file I made this week.
Cover of a song from Disney's Lilo & Stitch, from the album Disney Remix Mania.
A) Because this is what child me would've wanted.
B) Because Hawaii needs a little love right now.
C) Because if I don't remember Jump5, nobody will.
Oh, and it's like an Extreme-style 9, a la My Summer Love. I have a hard time making slow BPMs look exciting, but this one was actually pretty fun to make--and to play. Hope you think so too!

OH FOR--YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT
My poor ol' hometown only ever had Extreme machines when they were around, so I played it on that--sue me. I basically just meant pre-tough difficulties, before the Supernova/Fascination Maxx era. I take back my Timberwolves votes!!

In all seriousness though I really appreciate the Hawaii love. I actually have family that lives in Hawaii (fortunately not the same island as Kilauea) so your submission actually means a lot more to me than you realize. Thank you.

Lilo and Stitch is my favorite movie of all time because it was the first movie I saw in a theater. djVERTICAI, your file brought me so much nostalgia that I literally shed I tear of joy. Thank you for stepping that song and doing such a fantastic job with it.

It's a cover of Kirari Tsukishima starring Koharu Kusumi (Morning Musume)'s song of the same name. You can listen to its original version here.

While this song, released in 1999, is one of Jennifer Lopez's signature songs (perhaps her signature song period), it was originally done by the European dance group 3rd Party in 1997. You can listen to their version here.

[Covered Up]
The Trooper - MICappella
BPM: 77-230
Length: 2:00
Genre: A-Capella Metal
Cover of: Iron Maiden
S: 2 (4) / 5 (7) / 7 (10) / 9 (14) / 12 (18)
First off - I apologize if the skittles on are off, I did my best with the time I had and I like to just use the basic SM5 editor.
Watch out for the plethora of BPM changes throughout. Utilizes Footswitches throughout, while just goes for an all-out assault including minefields and 16th stream. I will eventually add doubles and maybe clean up some of the patterns, but I wanted to get this in before the deadline.
I WILL vote this week, I have a couple easy days at work so I will definitely have time

Looks like I'll be trying that cover sometime soon. It's just in time for Summer too!

ONE HOUR WARNING. Don't forget to submit your Week 4 files and vote on Week 3!
And now for Week 5....
- Playing Stepmania and extreme frisbee at the same time doesn’t make for a very good Summer Contest theme, so let’s go with the next best thing.
- This week, I want you to step songs that feature wind instruments. This includes (but isn't limited to) trumpets, trombones, saxophones, clarinets, flutes, kazoos, harmonicas, etc.
- No, Patrick, mayonnaise is not an instrument.
- Making whoosh sounds with your voice doesn't count. Sorry, Pentatonix.
- I don’t care whether you use real instruments or MIDI instruments, as long as the instrument is still recognizable as a wind instrument. So if you want to step those MIDI trumpets from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, go right ahead.
- Want to really impress me? Step a song that has a didgeridoo in it.
- Here's a Wikipedia article that lists every single wind instrument. If it's listed under "Wind instruments (aerophones)", it counts! (Again, I want to stress that we're not counting the human voice in this theme, so ignore stuff like "beatboxing".)
Questions? Comments? Feel free to post here or PM me!

Would you consider a harmonica or a melodica a wind instrument?

Yes to both.

TIME'S UP! Voting for Week 3 and submission for Week 4 have ended. Voting for Week 4 starts now.
Unfortunately the results for Week 3 are going to be delayed a bit. Pandy isn't online right now and I'd rather wait until any votes sent to him since last night are accounted for. Sorry about that. =/
