Speaking of long shots, how about some more 19s to prep up for the 20? Because that's how you build up to the ultimate climax of 20 years of DDR, a gauntlet of 19s followed by the ending that is the 20
To be fair, we finally got our first not-trash 18s at the same time 19s started appearing, so maybe our first 20 will be heralded by not-trash 19s.
That's my hope, anyways.
Then again, 19s are rare - I expect 2 at most to ramp into the 20 - and I would half-expect one of the 19s to be the 20-footer on expert.
Quote: NuVirus
If they're gonna make more 19s, and goodness forbid a 20, they could at least TRY to look at ITG charts, and take a hint.
ITG, in terms of official charts surprisingly doesn't have anything *that* difficult - the only 13s are Pandemonium, Vertex^2, and Summer ~Speedy Mix~. If we expand to include ITG 3, we get Vertex^3, which ahahahahahahahahahahahaha. And the vast majority of user-created files that are 14+ in difficulty are far too long, DDR only really gives you 2 minutes to work with. If we're talking about influences for the 19+ range, Pump It Up probably is your best bet:
Okay, maybe not.
The difficulty rating that could really use the ITG influence is 18-footers, and actually, we are (slowly) starting to see quite a bit more of that - Astrogazer and Come to Life were both actually pretty fun charts (no seriously, I actually enjoy playing them, it's weird). Like, two back-to-back good 18's, when did this start happening?!
EDIT:

-Turn Goods into "not quite"s or whatever the fuck you want to call it, make them break combo and lose health. With there being no timing window to hurt you, people can just mash through songs. This is how FEFEMZ cleared your new 19, are we not seeing a problem?
The first 8 or so DDR mainstream arcade mixes (I stopped playing at Extreme - the 8th mainstream mix) actually had a “good” rating that broke the combo.Post #202 · Posted at 2017-11-08 05:42:38pm 6.4 years ago

Thanks to DDR, "Good" is no longer a positive word in most of our vocabularies.

Mmmm, close...but what I was getting at was more of...look at user-made ITG scale 11s, 12s, and 13s (maybe 14s) from let's say...Champions Of The Coast, ECFA, or DDR Storm tournament packs. Or maybe some of the ITG scale 13s & 14s one would find in the Tachyon packs. A lot of these are probably around 1:50 to about 2:10 long.
As far as DDR charts that show signs of ITG influence & improvement...the only one I can really think of is Nageki No Ki (probably one of my most favorite DDR simfiles for this reason). Both the & definitely show how far DDR has come, and how they could easily make difficult, but comfortably difficult charts, without having to resort to the usual clichés of BPM gimmicks, crossover spams, and the biggest culprit...doublesteps.
I mean...it's not perfect, but it's definitely much more ITG-like than any other kind of DDR chart I could possibly think of.

THIS. And "Last Note.". Like, double down on "Last Note.".
As far as post-X GOOD rating stuff - at first elitist me hated this; but in retrospect, it's a fair tradeoff from the uptick in Extra Stage/Boss Song difficulty, especially where 18/19 charts are concerned. Good breaking combo was acceptable when songs only went as hard as PARANOiA Survivor MAX, or heck, even Fascination -eternal love mix-... but Pluto Relinquish was the tipping point of physical execution where that started feeling like "fuck this." Not that I didn't try, mind you; but there's a REASON people say "SuperNOVA 2 had the hardest judgement," and it's the combination of GOODs breaking combo with the difficulty of some of it's boss charts (like that and HADES, and to a lesser extent, Trim and Arabbiatta).

I feel like people saying that "SuperNOVA2 had the hardest judgment" refers to difficulty of gauge reduction and recovery. While I haven't played the older games, I heard from people that DDR X had an easier lifebar than DDR SuperNOVA2, although the judgment schemes were the same.
While GOOD judgments did break combos prior to 2013, it didn't reduce your dance gauge unless you played on Battery. Rather, the existence of the ALMOST judgment (before X2) probably hurt you more.

Yeah, I'll fully admit that GOOD's keeping combo sort of irked me at first, but no seriously
There's two good things to come out of it:
1. The GOOD timing is now actually kind of good. I mean, GOODs, uh, weren't. Failing on a positive-looking judgement is funny, but I do see how some find it annoying.
2. Grinding Extra Stage songs without goods is pure unadulterated pain
3. See 2. No seriously, see 2.

Dead thread, but might as well post.
If we get another mix, I want:
-A feature that lets you sort by the last time you played a song
-The "Most played" sorting method to be brought back
-More extra stage 15s and 16s
-A change to the difficulty rating system, make the 19s 20s and adjust everything else accordingly.
-Fun events where you get to unlock stuff, unlike DDR A which only had 2
-More collabs for the konami originals

This... may sound weird... but I kind of hope they drop a few packs of licensed - but well-charted - songs throughout the year. Or at least more work from commissioned artists, maybe?
THEY NEED TO DO ANOTHER "FAN SONG CONTEST" - AND THEN MAKE THE WINNERS OF THAT A MYSTERY EVENT!!

"I want dancemania back!"
Well, I personally want Scott Brown to give Konami the rights to use Go Berzerk! in IIDX AC.
but in all honesty, give U1 some more love in DDR 2018

Take a shot everytime someone requests dancemania revivals of songs that weren't popular when they were playable

OK, I agree with the U1 part though. Specifically, we need more U1 Overground in the next mix. I don't care if it's Hunny Bunny, Serotonin, that one song from Pop'n, or just something new, but please give us more. That style of songs is really good.

Well if the thread is alive again
Bare minimum wishlist:
-Exist.
Realistically could happen (assuming minimum is met):
-General average quality of charts is not garbage (a few bad ones will definitely happen, but on the whole A was good in this regard)
-More 16s and 17s, they're getting better at this
-As much as most people don't seem to want this, I want more crossovers from IIDX because IIDX has been absolutely baller (pun shamelessly intended) as of recently
-Split timing, but on a song with better charts than ACE FOR ACES
-First 20 footer
-An Encore Extra Stage that isn't a stupid Perfect Full Combo OR a Perfect Attack Extra Stage (i.e. more easily accessible) (marking this as realistic only because there's a fair chance we get ONE out of the two)
These definitely won't happen but I CAN DREAM DAMN IT:
-Credit the chart makers a la SDVX
-Song contests a la SDVX
-Ability to change speed mods mid-song a la SDVX
-A different announcer than the guy we've had for the past 10 years now
-First crossover 19
-"EGOISM 450" (i.e. another speed/stamina-based 19)
-First 20 footer to break DDR's present speed record (presently held by VDO's lolstream), except have that be the song's actual tempo instead of a completely silly speedup
-Make accessing the hardest challenges in the game easier

I'm gonna sound like a broken record here but:
- Eurodance-esque lisences. Please. I need bouncy dance music.
- No more anything that sounds like dubstep. None. Nada. Keep that in IIDX and SDVX. You can't dance to dubstep.
- Crossovers from Reflec Beat, pop'n, and jubeat. Those are the games with the good music, and they have variety.

* Option to turn off the announcer already, even if you have to use the website to do so. I have long since tired of the X announcer.
* Less BPM changing crap. Or at least, no more randomly changing BPM for crossovers that come over to DDR.
* A music contest, because why not? Would rather see some new talent added to the series than just the same group of in-house staff over and over again like A ended up doing.
* More frequent unlock systems. A kinda stopped them about six months in for a good while.
* More Challenge charts for older original DDR songs. (Not as in X-Special stuff. Regular, non-gimmicky Challenge charts.)
* Less Touhou and Vocaloid, please. As in, little to none. This isn't SOUND VOLTEX.
* Agreeing with no more dubstep as well.

Adding to this, better unlock systems. No grind fests, all skill.
