I bought a D-Pad and I have some problems with them

Well, I have a problem with my D-Pad, this is the "story"...

the "Left-Right" and "Up-Down" combinations doesn't work and I don't know what to do.
By the way, mi Operative System is Ubuntu 17.04 64 bits and I have the Stepmania 5's Windows edition (I use Wine for run it), Does anyone have any solutions for this?

First, there is absolutely no reason to run the Windows version of StepMania 5 on Linux. The Linux version will run better.

Second, what kind of dance pad do you have? How are you connecting it? A number of different dance pads and adapters all have this problem. For some it is possible to fix it, for others it is not.

Assuming that you're using a dance pad, you need to make sure that your controller/driver options are set to consider the buttons on the dance pad as buttons and not as the X and Y axis, because the X and Y axis can not register opposite directions at the same time.

do you mean the adapter driver?

Yes. Looking in your driver options for the adapter might let you change whether the arrows register as buttons or the X/Y axis; you do not want them as the X/Y axis.

However, I do not know how you would actually check those options on Linux.

I bought one of those a few years ago. They only support mapping the directional inputs to the hat and changing the input mode is not possible, so there is unfortunately nothing you can do.

PSX Adaptor leads me to suspect this is a simple issue.
Try holding Start+Select+Up Arrow for 3 seconds and see if that fixes your problem.

I had this problem too, but with a XBOX controller, but I think this might also work with the PSX dance pads too. There is a simple program called JoyToKey (pretty obvious name, huh?), it converts the joypad's button commands and it is implemented to whatever key you set it to. I'm not sure if there is a linux version though, but if there is, it will help you out a lot.

I've tried the ArchWiki's command and nothing...something I did wrong??

BTW I had to change my operative system to Manjaro KDE, I could not install ArchLinux but it's almost the same.

Some PlayStation adapters do not support dance pad mode at all. You probably bought one of those, so your only choice if nothing in this thread works is buying a different adapter.
