ELEMENT (A fan-made concept from _|/-\43D)

ELEMENT

ELEMENT is a concept idea for a new BEMANI game. The game is inspired by DDR, Just Dance, ReRave, and those Simon toys with the flashing lights. If it were real, it would be easy to play, but difficult to master.

HOW IT WORKS
The game is played on a grid made up of a series of 6 concentric circles. The four outer circles are split up into 8 sections, the second inner circle is split up into 4 sections, and the innermost circle is not split up at all. A diagram of the grid appears on a screen. When one or more areas of the diagram is shaded red on the screen, you must step on that area of the dance grid. When one or more areas are shaded blue, you must step on that area and hold it until the area is no longer blue. When an area of the diagram is shaded green and another area is shaded yellow, you must drag you foot from the green area directly to the yellow area. You can switch feet, or use both, if you'd like. But if you don't make it to the yellow area in time, you will get a miss.

Oh, wow!! This concept is really clever and I like it a lot. The BEMANI crossovers were nicely-chosen in my opinion; they are fun songs I'd love to dance to for the most part.
Your original song titles are pretty realistic as well!

Two questions, though:
1. Judging by its genre, would "Matrix" basically be the Alt 2.0 equivalent to 0/1 ANGEL?
2. Was this intended as a more "Western"-targeted BEMANI game, judging by the licenses and the other songs?

So that means there would be 37 different step areas? Talk about technical. Also the sensors would be pretty small, and I imagine you could trigger several of them with only one foot.
I'd imagine that this would work a lot like jubeat where it gives you a heads up when the sensor area will need to be pressed.

Well, pretty neat idea. I'm not sure how well it would work, but it would be fun to play.

Another thing I want to mention regarding Genres is that even though the Genre for Across the Waters is listed as WORLD/ELECTRONICA, the song is related to the CONTEMPORARY NATION songs.

Regarding the licenses, the reason why they are all Western songs is simply because I am not very familiar with Japanese music.

And I titled the game ELEMENT because it was the first thing that came to mind.

Will the songs in this game feature music videos a la IIDX, GITADORA, BeatStream and DDR?

No. The diagram of the dance grid will take up most of the screen. The part of the screen without the dance grid will be a box with the judgments, combo counter, and score.

Another feature I'd like to bring up is that with certain songs, you can choose to play a short ~2:00 cut or a full ~4:00 song. Unlike BONUS TRACKS in GITADORA or the long versions from DDR 5th Mix, playing the full version does not take up 2 songs.

Speaking of judgments and score, here's how the scoring system in the game works.

A perfect score in the game is 1,000,000 for short versions and 1,000,000,000 for full versions.

The judgments are IMPECCABLE!!, AMAZING!, NICE, MEH..., CLOSE, and MISS. There are also additional judgments for completing and missing holds and paths. For completing a hold, you are awarded a WHOO-HOO! For completing a path, you get a YEAH, BABY! For not completing a hold, you receive an UNFORTUNATE. For not completing a path, you get a 😞.

The grading system works like this:

I mean, the idea of long versions taking up two songs is so that credits can be roughly the same length in time, short versions or long. Obviously it's just a concept, but I'd be annoyed if I was waiting on someone who was playing all long versions.

UPDATE: I have decided to add a new note type. Chain notes involve hitting the same panel(s) multiple times in succession, similar to rolls in ITG. They will be shaded brown on the screen. The judgment for completing a chain is MAGNIFICENT! The judgment for not completing a chain is NOPE.
