"Magic Parade with me!"
What do you think? Will the 19$USD HD-DVD win, with it's freakin' Vhs/Dvd HERITAGE behind it, or will the newcomer 25$USD Blu-Ray come out on top, with...Betamax...behind it?

I think you already know who I think is going to be hot and who's going to flop. Tongue

"Ohh, cassettes will never last! It's all about the eight track man!" *cough*

I'm kinda behind Blu-Ray since it holds more and seems to be more durable overall. I could give a hell about the movies to be honest. I'm about the data storage. People should be able to quickly and easily backup mass amounts of things and HD-DVD just doesn't seem to be as capable of that as Blu-ray.

Then again, it seems as though HD-DVDs are the better way to go when it comes to movies seeing as normal DVDs do a fine job of holding a movie while Blu-Ray seems to be a bit much. You don't need that much space it seems.

How big is a HD movie though? It doesn't seem as though anyone has ever talked about how much more space one would need to hold a HD movie.

Right now, neither is winning. HDTV market penetration (especially of sets capable of 1080p) is so low that nobody has much interest in actually doing much with the format.

From the technical standpoint, I see Blu-Ray with the obvious advantage, but HD-DVD is cheaper to produce (although, around here at least, that hasn't resulted in cheaper prices for the movies).

And Ty, you can be a bit easier on the bias... the Blu-Ray camp is also mostly the same people that initially backed the Compact Disk format over digital cassettes Smile
