MKV as well please.
Honestly, might as well allow any container that SM5 finds valid.

What other containers does SM5 support?

quoting a post from dbk2 on the sm forums about 2 years ago.
"From SM5 beta 2 onward, acceptable movie formats include:
.avi, .mpg, .mkv, .mp4, .mov, .flv"

MP4s are something I use for my videos, but I have to use AVI if I want to upload that file onto Zenius without using a custom zip, and sometimes compressing an AVI down below the size limit without screwing up the quality can be a pain.
I second this.

You can actually upload any file as it is, as it only looks at the extension. That's a terrible solution though and it should be changed.

Just use the custom ZIP feature. Honestly isn't an issue.

i mean you can make threads about things that you THINK are issues but actually aren't
really is not hard at all to just provide a custom ZIP, takes like >30 seconds

You could make the same argument about changing the website code to allow more video formats.

I'm fairly sure editing code takes more than thirty seconds. So no, you couldn't make the same argument.

While it may take notably over thirty seconds, unless it is actually reading the file itself in the upload process, I don't imagine adding supported formats would take anywhere close to the amount of time that some people have likely spent making custom zips/converting videos because of this issue, since supporting multiple formats has already been done with audio.Post #17 · Publicado en 2017-02-03 05:08:41pm Hace 7.2 años

Although utilizing a custom ZIP file is the current solution (and isn't really time consuming), it would be definitely more convenient for the end-user to have support for more containers.

As long as the extension is .avi you can upload it. Download this .avi file and change the extension to .png. It will be Aftershock's banner.
It should be trivial to allow more than one extension.

Which is something hooky already said in this thread if you weren't paying attention.
I know how code works. Even if it were more complicated than just
if !(filetype == "avi"):
(display an error message)
It's still probably a fraction of what the StepMania team had to do with SM5 to actually support the codecs required for all the new video types in the first place.
So, why not just do it? This is the most popular website to upload StepMania simfiles, after all.
