i have stepmania 5 but it doesnt play the preview of the songSadSadSad i have menu music but sample wav files are not playing
what am i doing wrong?

What is it that you mean by "sample wav files"? Song previews? Song previews are made from the actual song itself and isn't a separate file. The length and start time for each song preview is defined in the simfile itself. Can you maybe send a link to the simfile so we can figure out if it's a problem with the simfile and not your StepMania build?

Is this for a specific file, or does the preview not play for every simfile you have?

That doesn't look like a normal .sm or .scc to me at all. Can you please upload and send a link to the simfile so I can take a look at it?

Is Stepmania even programmed to be able to play preview music for keysounded charts? Because that file is a BMS/PMS file with keysounds (and SAMPLE START/SAMPLELENGTH tags that may not be valid).

Hello, like others say, Stepmania is no focused on Pop'N simulation, I've doing a Pop'n theme, and I noticed that those files doesn't are previewed on the song wheel, like the previous users have said, the tags #SAMPLESTART and #SAMPLELENGTH won't work, because the PMS is a derivation of BMS files and the music is composited, and the PMS format doesn't have a tag to recognize a sample to play like in DDR o PIU simulations, I think there could be a solution to this, in some files, I've checked that there is a preview.wav file, with LUA scripting, we could check if that file exists, and play it, that could be the easy way to fix that, but I haven't tested, I will try to do it work, and share the results Big Grin

I've made a test, and shows that my idea could be possible, but maybe not, that I've done was to search in the song directory a file named preview, and play it, the problem is that the sound don't stop playing and overlaps with others creating a mess. Laughing Out Loud Here in the video is the proof of concept, that is a Pop'n Theme, with real Pop'n Simfiles, the ones that doesn't have the preview file, simply won't sound.

I have a similar code, but I just have included the variations for mp3 and ogg (I hate that wave simfiles Tongue ) i was using "SOUNDTonguelayOnce();" to play the path, nice played sensei Very Happy now my Pop'n theme supports previews. Thanks! I think the problem is solved due theming assistance.
