"Working On: 5thMix BGA bgchanges"
Hi all,

I was having a look through my songs the other day and was thinking it'd be great to be able to have complete lists for each mix inside a mix folder (so for example if I have my songs sorted as CS mixes, I can see all the songs that were featured in that game in one folder). Is this possible to do without getting a double up on the ABC sort?

Just to illustrate what I mean:

GROUP SORT:
DDR 1stMix
Paranoia
etc

DDR 2ndMix
Paranoia
etc

ABC SORT:
P
Paranoia
Paranoia KCET
etc

No big deal if it's not possible, just thought I'd ask the brains trust here if anyone knew if it was possible.

Could you not place a folder shortcut in the 2nd mix folder and point to the 1st mix original?

I tried that a while back and SM doesn't read the shortcut, it only shows the original folder unfortunately Sad

I assume from your answer that you are using Windows. That only works on Linux, the system uses the shortcuts as a real files, but that doesn't work on Windows, and the .redir system only works on themes. I don't think that could be possible actually.

I think you'll have to have a new file like Paranoia in 2nd Mix, then copy the .SMC file from 1st Mix into that folder, then reference the Banner / Jacket / Background / Audio / Video. That would at least save the space of having graphics / video / audio in another folder but you'll still have a unique .SMC file.

Bman, using your example:

Jump into your DDR 2ndMix folder, shift-right click > "Open command window here" > paste in the following...

mklink /J PARANOiA "..\Dance Dance Revolution 1st Mix\PARANOiA"

I know I'm sitting right next to you, but I figured it'd be better to post here incase anyone else is wondering how to do this Very Happy

If you came over to linux this wouldn't be an issue TongueTongueTongue

Yeah, that works! I haven't know that Windows have simlinks too. Thanks!

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I figured it was better than making a new one on the same topic, especially as the information is pertinent.

I tried this, and while it will show in both groups, it creates a double of the file when sorted by Title. As Bman asked, is there any way to get this to work without that issue cropping up?

If not, that's fine, I was just curious.

It's only possible via Preferred Sort. In Others/SongManager PreferredSongs.ini (below for example):

--- DanceDanceRevolution
DanceDanceRevolution/Paranoia
(and so on...)

--- DDR 2ndMIX
DanceDanceRevolution/Paranoia
(and so on...)

You won't get duplicate when changing sorts other than Preferred

Unfortunately I couldn't get that working with my preferred theme (DDR A) either; folder names and songs would get weirdly duplicated several times. I've found an alternative after looking at the theme metrics more closely though, thanks.

Would you mind telling us how you got it to work using the metrics Xavious? I would really like to know how to get around the duplication issue of preferred sort files.

Apologies if I was unclear, I discovered an alternative to using preferred sort with my current setup and am using that instead. I wouldn't mind getting preferred sort to work properly, but haven't been able to, sorry.

In case you were wondering, my alternative was discovering a "DDR Console Exclusive" group sort option in the DDR A theme, and I've sorted all the songs that don't fit in Japanese AC releases in there (which was a large part of my reason for wanting preferred sort).

It is not possible in preferred sort currently. The preferred sort works by creating an dictionary with songs then assembling the folders by looking up which song belongs in which folder.

Therefore songs will get duplicated in the folder where they first occur.

You can change this in the source code by creating the array of folders and songs for the music wheel on the fly using the already made dict. But then when you return from gameplay it will return you to the first folder where the song occurs, since the folder is not saved in memory, it looks up what folder the song belongs to
