I always need to search separately for the button where i get the search from and i'm probably not the only one. Would the top bar have space for search button or field? That's where the rest of the interenet teaches you it's most likely found at.

Another user that was new to this site was not even aware that a search function exists. Maybe you can place one next to the top logo?

Most other forums have it wide out into the open for an easy to find location. Usually even visible on any page. I've been here for years and even I forget where the search function is half the time so it's not just limited to new users.

About nowhere else it's "simply" holding mouse over button that says Home, especially when almost universally clicking the site banner returns back to home so some don't even use the separate button even if it was there.

It's really not a huge hassle. Sure, not many other websites do it, but it's not exactly hard to figure out...
