How was the pack assembled? How "official" was it? Is it a mixture of what we knew with fan love? Just would appreciate any and all information on the third game, and how the simfiles were assembled.

Afaik, ITG3 was in the middle of development and stopped when konami won their lawsuit against roxor. The progress on the simfiles were still leaked, and afterwords, the itgfreak community filled in the uncompleted stepcharts. Their aim was to use as much official roxor stepartists charts as possible.

I don't exactly know how the progress of ITG3 went, but from what I read, most of the game's development was completed before Roxor was shut down. I believe a good handful of the game's double charts were missing at the time, so that's where a few people were asked to make charts for the game. One that I'm aware of is Partyman D-
; the only chart submitted by J. Felds that made it to the game.
There's also at least one chart that never had its steps filled - one I know of is Heel and Toe D-
(8); the chart is completely blank.

So basically it's pretty close to an official release, if you're playing the singles? Why so many "Edits"?

I don't think that too many charts on singles are official. I never read about what led to all those edit charts lying about, but if I were to guess, they were probably alternate submissions for "Expert" that the ITGFreak's developing community decided to keep around due to having trouble deciding one chart over another.

An FYI, the ITG PC release has alot of code specifically for ITG 3 Arcade, including access to a specific online server for ITG Online (which doesn't work). It also had alot of broken things that were not in use for ITG PC that were commented out or just bypassed which aren't too hard to fix like the Coin Data History stuff.

There was actually a pack released not too long after the game was cancelled which had about 20-30% of the singles charts done and significantly more of the doubles charts done and they were all by "in house" simfile authors according to the tags. Whether that was true or not i've no idea but it seemed that was the basis of the packs we have nowadays, the edits were for alternative charts where people werent sure which chart they wanted, although by that point the people who were in charge of the project weren't the best at making charts and were even overwriting "official" charts with their own not so good stuff. Vaguely remember someone replacing Temple of Loves "Official" expert chart with a terrible one that was just a long run and a lot of mines, but it was changed back in subsequent releases with that chart being pushed to an edit before being changed entirely.
I also don't think it ever started on ITGFreak, im fairly sure the site was down or no longer popular by the time the files were being seriously worked on, there was a seperate site for ITG Rebirth and ITG 3 charting from what I remember?

Well, thank you guys for the information. Basically this determined whether or not I wanted to get ITG Rebirth / 2, because it seems like what I originally thought -- ITG 3 was just fans trying to salvage what almost had been released. And they did a really nice job.

If you like official ITG charts why wouldn't you pick up Rebirth / Rebirth 2? Full charts, scripted bg's, survival and marathon courses, doubles charts as well. ITG 3 pack has nothing to do with Rebirth packs. I have an ITG 3 pack that doesn't have many edits, I think I picked it up after the second team went through trying to fix everything, it's pretty good, soon after was when all the retards went crazy making edit crap and even replacing official files so I'm quite happy with the ITG 3 pack that I have. I also uploaded the unreleased ITG 3 song. It's double-unreleased, not only was ITG 3 never a thing but the song was removed due to licensing from the ITG 3 leak but the chart is there, just like "Cosmic Unconscious" and "Atom Bomb" before it "Wild Thing" was going to be the removed song from ITG 3 with enough data still in the game that it was resurrected.Post #10 · Posted at 2016-09-29 10:53:02am 8.5 years ago

I remember submitting two charts on ITG Freak to go into the ITG3 pack to finish it. My contributions were Dynamite [Hard] and Get Away [Hard]. Stupid me though...I never ended up editing the simfile to actually add zeioIIDX to the stepartist line so when you play those two charts, I'm not credited lol. Oh well.

Is there a list somewhere that lists all the songs that are (or were supposed to be) in ITG 3? The mention of Wild Thing made me realize my pack I got doesn't have all of the songs. I'd be willing to type out my songs I have if there are none and have someone manually tell me which ones I"m missing.

Thanks, pulled up both and saw they were both blank on singles hard so story pans out, added in your credit so it at least exists here at my house now.Quote: ffxin00b

I don't think Wild Thing got put in any pack other than the one I got, it was removed for some reason. I've uploaded the file here though and I added the music video.
