BGVideos from Universe 1 and 3?
Not the custom ones but the videos used for regular songs (Tesla Coil, INSERTiON, etc.)

I'm surprised no one is even doing something like this. I always enjoyed the animations from the UNIVERSE series.

Megabumping because I think I know why nobody has done this and both people who posted in this thread are still active.
I think I have access to all of Universe 3's bgas (not sure about the first two games) but off the disc they're presented in a .sfd format, which is a really weird file type not normally used by PCs. They're in a specific sofdec format that is native to certain video game consoles. I'm pretty sure whatever codec in which sofdec files are saved isn't a codec recognized by any version of Stepmania. I'd be able to dump a bunch of videos playable by VLC Media Player, but the software generally used to convert sofdec to any widely recognized format is antiquated and elusive.
My devkit is in the other room and I can't be fucked to go and turn it on and rip some videos, but I have two already on my laptop: One is just some random bga I moved for testing purposes and the other is Return of the Machines' cut music video from Universe 3. Here's the one and only bga I have on my laptop that isn't RotM's music video:
Depending on when you look at this post, that bga will either be compressed to shit since it's been a few minutes since I uploaded it, or YouTube has had enough time to fully process it into the glorious 720p at which it's saved on the disc.
Also, if someone already has extracted and converted all of these bgas and I'm several years late to the party, I know where my dunce cap is.

They haven't.
Can you dump the videos and upload them here? It is at least some progress, especially in a two-year-old thread with no leads.

Yeah, I can do that. I'm uploading a zip now, but I'm on campus wi-fi so it'll be a little while before it's finished. I'll post here again with the link when it's uploaded.
Campus wi-fi really took me on a journey. The upload stalled and aborted three times.
https://mega.nz/#!KMci2ISR!KB5qYM7TlN9uRniFAWwUvJoG5tgJ3HZ4oo2zLqNM5So
Those are all of the BGAs (as well as whatever miscellaneous movies are contained within) from Universes 1 and 3, as well as a partial rip of Universe 2, but the file transfer was being uncooperative so I gave up about 60% of the way through.

Sorry for the weird request, but I wanted to ask since you have access to the files, if you could give a quick look into the data and see if the game has a Master Songlist, like the PS2 games.
Here's how it could look like.

I would have to do a little more digging than I did to get the videos if I wanted to find a master songlist. Most of the stuff is packaged away in really obscure file formats. Some of it might also be encrypted, but it's also possible that I'm just a dumbass. The closest thing I found to a master songlist in my ~ten minutes of actually looking was a .csv file in DDR 2010's data, but there's nothing that interesting in there. No indication of any removed songs or anything fun like that. It's just organizational and modifying it obviously does not affect anything in-game.Here's how it could look like.

I was able to extract the SFDS of universe 3 (or most of them, i quit bc it was taking forever and slowing my pc down) and they're intact but the filesizes are kind of big (8 mb average, excluding the unique music videos) so i'm gonna see if i can reduce their filesizes.

Hi 500MASTER, just wondering, since you have file access to these three games, would you be able to pull out the Main Menu music from Universe 1 and 2? I'm looking for these two songs to complete my theme.
Hope you can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.
Cheers.

I can try. Much like the master songlist request, the music files are buried inside packaging files under obscure file formats. The BGAs are all handily stuffed inside a folder entitled "movies" on the root of the disc, so those were incredibly easy to extract. Almost everything else (except for some of the UI files) are inside huge archive files. Those files are either encrypted (not that likely, and if they are the key probably isn't difficult to acquire) or I'm just a huge dumbass and can't figure out how to extract their contents. I'm home on holiday and I left my devkit in my apartment a few hundred miles away, so I'll have to wait a bit before I can start digging.

That's alright, if you can help me acquire them sometime that would be fantastic.
Also, side note, could you upload the movie sets separately (e.g. Uni1, Uni2, Uni3 as separate downloads) on Mega (or split it into two parts)? I'd prefer not to use their desktop app/extension to download the files as they've been having some security issues with their download software/apps lately. Would be great if you could do that for me/others who would prefer to just download via the browser.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

Yeah, I can split them up. I only uploaded them all in one zip because I was lazy. If you're looking to use them in your themes, do note that Universe 2's rips are incomplete. It will be easy to get all of the videos once I'm back in my apartment.

That would be great if you could split them up. I'd really appreciate it. I noticed you said that in your earlier post. Are they all separate videos or are they one file per song? I'd be keen to do some of the BGChanges for the songs once I've got the files. Similar to how I'm doing the 5thMix ones currently.

The program I use to decode the .sfd files is called "Batch22bV5." Usually you put the files in the "inputfiles" folder of your Batch22b program, click on the executable, choose the video/audio format of your preference and encoding options. Then let the program do its work and once it's done, you press any key to close it.

Each movie is its own individual file. I don't know where the scripts are kept to bind them to certain songs. Also, big screw up on my part, but I won't be able to up re-upload the movies until I get back to my apartment on Monday. I did my monthly formatting of my hard drive and didn't back up the videos, so I'll need to transfer them all again.

You don't need to provide the scripts to bind the videos to the songs - I usually script the songs by watching them played online and then I manually add the video scripts anyway. That's alright, I'm in no rush, thanks for letting me know all the same.

Xbox 360 videos are just variants of Windows Media, you could convert them with vlc, super or another software that supports WMV as source.
