I use a SwapMagic, and I think it's pretty good. A little more expensive, but not as risky as installing a mod chip.

It's pretty much a boot program. The only thing you need to change as far as your hardware goes is your CD tray. It comes with the lid or the insert, and the boot CD. Much much safer than moldering a mod-chip.
So in my brief return, I am going to slowly but surely work on a new simfile mix called TEMPEST. Still workin' on it. Preview -->

I also use Swap Magic, and it's pretty good. I have the fliptop, but the only down side is that you have to place a book or something on the PS2, because for some reason the PS2 won't try to read the disc without a little pressure on it. Confused

Yeah, flat tops are awseome... wish I had one Confused But my friend has one and he can just leave the disk tray open, and it still plays.

With Beatmania IIDX Gold coming out for the PS2, I definitely want a SwapMagic if it is as easy to install as you've put it.

I doubt it will come to America.

I want my Fascination MaxX. Annoyed

i used to have a flip top on my phat ps2.... untill i plugged my ps2 into a wall in england. phat models arent dual voltage like slim lines, learned that the hard way.

anyway, flip top is brain dead simple to install. take the top off of your ps2, put the flip top on. done. swap magic works like a charm too, its so awesome.

still its not as awesome as a japanese ps2. not having to use boot discs is awesome.

=\

Sorry Guys, i hate wasting DVD-R's and risk swap magic getting scratched up and cracks in the middle hole.

so i use "redaoL DH"(Backwards to protect from any google or search engine finds)

i have 8th through DistorteD on it as well as other games. and there is No risk in anything.

did you even read i what i was saying?

it requires a FAT ps2, NETWORK ADAPTOR, MEMORY CARD, a hard drive and some "data". no risk in ANYTHING. and the ps2 can be US.

Ok, I got Swap Magic Green Grin and "got" distorted. Yet it freezes on certain songs. I try everything yet it doesn't work. So I assume is the TOC size, anybody knows how to refresh it on a Silver Slim?

PS I do plan on getting the real versions Distorted and Gold on the near future.

With SwapMagic, TOC sizes shouldn't be a concern. Quality of discs does matter though, as PS2 lasers can be very picky, some of my backups won't work on one PS2 but will on another. DistorteD will freeze whenever it can't read a part of a disc.

Thanks, after 5 tries, I just got the perfect burn(2x, Magic ISO, No finalizing, Sony DVD-R 16x). The only thing not working is Sud+ on Double Loving Heart, but that song is easy enough to play without it.

EDIT: Sud+ is working it was my tv, thats cuts part of the image. Now I got IIDX Red.

Your best bet is to buy a used fat PS2 and install a hard drive/use HD Loader. With it you can run all the JP games, choose them from a menu, and you get the benefit of much faster load times too. Once you get use to it it's tough to go back to playing from your discs.

"OMG KON!"
swap magic is very easy to use. You Have to be careful however. Dont use a slide card, it broke my DVD tray, and gave me a error on my PS2.

I recommend a slim PS2+Tape & Tissue+Swap Magic. Very cheap, and the tape and tissues are found in your house Big Grin

now if you have a fatty, you are going to have to put a new top/case in/on unless you want your tray to fail on you eventually.

Well, I have a fat PS2 and swap magic + slide card. I've had little trouble with it other than the occasional disc read error (but that's just my PS2, I bought it broken and fixed it up). I would have bought a flip top, but I figure that when the PS2 bites the dust (which it eventually will), I'll just order a JP PS2.
