"Spot Paints Purple" |
In SM5, there is dance-threepanel mode. Has anyone tried it out? It's just the single mode with the up arrow removed.
3 panel came from DDR solo 2000, the arrows are supposed to be upleft-down-upright, but the arrows are wrong starting from whatever SM5 build was released on 1/9/2012. Now it's left-down-right. To get the arrows correct again I would have to modify the rotations of an existing noteskin...
16 panel (Techno double 8) has been added in I think 2014 or 2015. It is exclusive to SM5, and is not an official Techno game mode. Back then in the original Technomotion, there was only double 4 and double 5. But the addition of double 8 can make some very interesting charts/challenges...
Beat mode has a 14 key mode. This is how it would be played if there was 2 Beat key pads. And there are 5 and 7 key modes, but 10 key (double 5) is broken.
For game modes with more than 10 panels, files for them can't easily be made in the editor because there are not enough number keys to add the notes after the 10th panel. The only possible thing to do would be to add whatever note on the left then apply a turn mod (mirror, left, right) on it.
Lights mode is not really a game mode. Back in 2009, I first discovered it and wondered what it was about. Now I know what it is about, and I know why some ITG charts have a lights-cabinet chart: It is used to light up the lights on an ITG cabinet while playing a song. If trying to load this game on a theme like Simply Love or SM 3.9/3.95 default theme, it will show "Graphic Missing" as the logo because there is no logo file for this game type. If trying to load this in the editor, all the notes will be down arrows (or X's in SM5 and higher).
Para: I dont think many people use this mode either... It's just solo without the down arrow. Any dance noteskin will support para type because in the Lua file there are rotations for Left, UpLeft, Up, UpRight, and Right.
Dance Maniax and DS3DDX are very rarely used game types. Dance Maniax is just Dance with circles instead of arrows. DS3DDX has diagonal arrows and the other arrows appear very thin.

There is the other 16 panel mode from DDR Ultramix as well, they called it Quad Mode in that game. It was straight up shenanigans.

3(Double)? Isn't it supposed to be 6? I know there are 3 panels on each pad for half double, but 3 and 3 make 6...
The default techno noteskin in SM5 is based off the editor noteskin, but the downleft/downright holds still need to be made for this game mode (Downleft/downright with DDR type arrow gives a down hold instead).
