ICNH and I are the only ones I know of to actually do the AAA DDR MAX in a day. Since then a lot of people asked me and I'm sure him if anyone would do a MAX 2 or Extreme ever. My Project Delta last year was a fun project and gave me some insight to what would be expected if one person would undertake such a task. Although AAAing DDR Max's 42 songs in a session is quite difficult for many, it pales in comparison to trying to AAA all of DDR Extreme's 256 playable Expert and Challenge. I've thought a lot since my 2 runs on Max to see if this was ever worth trying or not and even now have quite a bit of doubt.

However, I've been looking into ways to approach this to make this challenge more palatable. I am still working out the precise logistics and I hope with more input I'll have a better detailed plan.

Alright, first things first. Although I plan on AAAing every song in a day, within 24 hours, I plan on doing it in split sessions. As in I play my first session at night, knock most of them out, wake up and finish off the rest. Secondly, I will be doing this on 2 separate machines, the arcade's DDR A to play all the available songs, and my home to play any songs exclusive to DDR Extreme.

I can already see people disagreeing with one or both of those methods. Hell you might even go as far to say this wouldn't really count. Well, so be it. I have my reasons of doing it this way and anyone is more than welcomed to be hardcore and AAA all of extreme in one session and on only a DDR Extreme. That would no doubt be a much more incredible feat and you'd earn my mad respect. One reason I'd like to do it this way is because on DDR A, past records were lost. In my eyes, I eventually need to replay and PFC all the songs I've done before and lumping them in this mix seems right. I also don't realistically think I could play the whole session at my home since I live in an apartment complex and I am only allowed to play during certain times. My best estimates put this taking around 14+ hours in total. And not to lie, I don't have many experiences playing extremely long sessions so that adds a lot of variables. Luckily after this run, I will have more info on that.

Now with all that out of the way, here's my rough breakdown.

I'm hoping to try this run on 6/12-6/13 for obvious reasons. I will start by playing on DDR A to knock out the 157 available songs. With DDR A's fast load times and ease of PFCing songs compared to Extreme, I should be able to knock them out in hopefully 6-8 hours. At which time I head home, get a shower, go to bed. Upon waking up, I get some food, and as soon as I am able, start knocking out all of the 99 Extreme exclusives one by one, hopefully no more than 5-7 hours. With no more than 6 hours of sleep and maybe 3 hours of down time for travel and waiting to digest, this is all possible under 24 hours.

For working out the logistics, here are some things to consider. First, which songs must be gotten on Extreme? There are a few odd balls like bag or mikeneko rock. I suppose if bag were done on DDR A, getting the challenge chart would suffice, though I'd probably just get it on Extreme to avoid confusion. Other songs like if you were here and ever snow are clearly altered charts and cuts so must be done on Extreme.

As of right now, these are the songs I believe I must get on Extreme. Please correct me if I'm wrong. (99 total)

Alright, discuss. If all goes well I'll be making an attempt in a month on 6/12 carrying into 6/13. Honestly though, it really depends if I can get good at extreme timing in a month or not. Although I grew up on this mix, I'm so out of practice it is embarrassing.

Not that I'm anyone special, but I'll throw in my two cents if you are just asking everyone. If you're going for available songs on DDRA, might as well just knock out Bag Challenge and Mikenko Challenge if you can since you're trying to fill your scores in again. If you're not doing those, then you kind of start a snow ball effect of "why not do them all on Extreme". Personally, I think "in a day" means just that and agree it doesn't have to be one session, and since we don't make people track down 1st mix for Paranoia AAAs to count, do them on the easiest version.

YOZORA NO MUKO is missing from the list. Aside from that, this list looks very solid.

Thanks, I totally missed that one. The reason mikeneko rock is special are because of the radical changes made to the rhythm compared to on extreme. At least in the case of bag, the challenge steps were added to mirror how it appeared on extreme.

On another note, will a DDRMAX2 in a day eventually be following? I like that mix the most out of this era and if EXTREME (with a much larger songlist) is being planned to be knocked out, might as well get MAX2 too, right?

Max 2 would be next if this one goes well. And that one would probably all be done on max 2 itself which will make it more legit.

Speaking about making things more legit, setting aside my two caveats that might invalidate my run, what other things should I do or tools should i use to aid my run?

Should I take a photo after each AAA? Or is after the set OK? Are no pictures OK as long as I have video evidence of it all? Should I stream on my down time? Should I have some universal clock running starting from my first round and ending on the final AAA?

These are just some questions I have but I'm sure I'm missing others, again, please discuss.

I would definitely say to use a timer. You wouldn't want to get tired and do the math wrong on how much time you have left based on the time you started, then go to 24:30 or something like that on accident. I would say it's more for your benefit than anyone else's.

So... what happened to this? Did this happen or have you given up on it? (Sorry for the bump...)

Thanks for the bump. I was actually going to bump this very soon but now you are forcing my hand.

Obviously nothing happened on the proposed 6/13 day like I was hoping. I've been way too swamped at work and was involved in too many projects at the time. And, not gonna lie, I am VERY rusty at getting AAAs on DDR Extreme after not playing it so long. In short I didn't have enough time to practice.

Now with all that said, it isn't cancelled, just rescheduled. In fact, I've been working on setting up a lot of things recently for this event.

The reason I was going to make a post soon is because I am doing a 61% run this coming Tuesday! As in I'll only be PFCing all of the songs available on DDR A. (157/256)

I even went some length to set up a special stream for the event.
https://i.gyazo.com/356a127eead0789bb7be85454eb6a791.jpg
https://gyazo.com/a97d00678c15e9fc7a9c2c396a8af3fa

I am doing this run for two reasons.

1. I want an estimate of how long the DDR A part will take. I also may do a separate DDR Extreme only run in the future to calculate total time before taking it all on at once.

2. I need to fill scores on DDR A haha. Seriously though, I've been purposely avoiding playing DDR Extreme era songs on DDR A for a while now, and if I'm going to play them, I want it to count towards something.

To recap. I still plan on doing this when I am ready. I am doing a 61% run this Tuesday, 7/12/16 around 14:00 GMT+800. I estimate the run to take 6~8 hours.

Hope to see you all there!

Bump Bump Bump...

Here we go. I'm trying the 61% run now. Live both on twitch and youtube. Come watch me die.

Bump. Here's what happend

Alright this post is overdue but here's what happened.

First, my list had two minor issues.
1. Destiny loves was listed twice (one of them should have been Maxx Unlimited)
2. I forgot to list Dynamite Rave Challenge.

Both I corrected midstream.

Now, to the meat and potatoes...
It took me just over 6 hours and 48 minutes to PFC 158 charts. As expected most songs only took a single try. The exceptions were mostly the 10s with a few random easier songs for usually gimmicky reasons. Stoic stomp, .59 slow down, sakura's slow downs, etc. And I just wasn't doing well on PSMO that day, it probably took over 10 tries which is kind of embarrassing.

I can definitely cut down some of that time if necessary. Being better prepared for the 10s and some tricky charts, I could cut quite a bit of time down. Additionally that time includes two more things.

1. I took a break around 60% of the way through. the break lasted about 15-20mins. I do feel that break was important and would probably do it again on the same run.
2. The machine crashed once late in the stream. this easily added an extra 10 mins that simply wouldn't be there if the machine didn't crash. Also, since it crashed before the ending results screen, my data on card wasn't saved... most notably my MFC on Air.

Speaking about MFCs, boy did I get some. in totally I got over 20 MFCs during the actual run with 17 of them being new. Due to the nature of this run, it shouldn't be necessary to mention all of these were done first try. I really didn't expect to get this many and wasn't sure my count while playing and didn't have the time to calculate it. Due to this, I did cross over 200MFCs during this stream with obviously a song I wish I didn't.

Now back to the run data. Needless to say, playing hard to achieve highest scores possible and for nearly 7 hours straight is tiring. I was really tired 4 hours in which is why I took the much needed break. By the time I finished I did still have some energy and could have kept going longer if needed. And, after a good night rest, I felt well enough to play again if I needed to.
That info is important if I am going to combine two runs like this within 24 hours.

I will not do a single Extreme only run. When I do that run, it will be followed by the run I just did. To accomplish this, I'm planning this... Start doing the 98 songs on Extreme at 6pm local. If I can not finish by 12am, I disregard the attempt. But when I am successful doing that run, I'll quickly go to bed and rest for the morning where I'll arrive and start playing the 158 songs by 10am, giving me 8 hours to finish the rest of the songs. I might hold off on this until September or later to give me more practice on Extreme as well as that is the time I'll become more free.

Links to all the MFCs can be found on my youtube channel and the whole stream is posted below.
