Somewhere in my house I have a dance pad. It does not support SM, and in order to use it it has to be plugged into a TV. When I turn it on a game called "Revolution 2004" starts up, and all the songs are 8-bit versions of usual DDR songs. There are 33 songs, 34 and 35 are "Game 1" and "Game 2", one of the games is a pinball game, I don't remember the other one.
The arrow order is LUDR instead of LDUR, the noteskin color is different depending on the song and there is no options menu to change anything. Is this a bootleg game?
UPDATE: After reading one of the reviews I found out the other game is a whack a mole game

Rule of thumb: If it works just by plugging into a TV, it's a bootleg.
I'm more interested in how you play pinball with a dance pad

Ooh, I'm curious about this bootleg now...what songs, exactly, are there?

One of them is Butterfly (8 bit version, it also is the title screen song)
The font for the judgements looks like a font for an old computer (looks like MS DOS like font but a bit bigger)

No. If I can find my pad I will plug it in take a picture and show it here.
This is one of the songs from that game:
Apparently this bootleg DDR pad is no longer for sale online now...
On Amazon this thing has a lot of bad reviews
http://www.amazon.com/Dance-Revolution-DDR-TV-No-Console/dp/9752300480/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
I think I agree with those reviews. I give this TV pad a 2/10. I actually tried it, the steps don't register well. Instead of this, I would rather get a metal pad and hook it up to my computer and put OpenITG or Stepmania on my TV, that would be 400 times better than this piece of junk.

Not necessarily true - ever heard of My First Dance Dance Revolution and Strawberry Shortcake Dance Dance Revolution? Those (according to RemyWiki, at least) were official games which were plug'n'plays, but granted, they were targeted towards young children...
And when you described the old computer-y font in the game and I heard "Lemon Tree MIDI", the first thing that I thought of was this:
I even imagined there being a bootleg plug'n'play version of Pop'n Music that looked just like that video...Thank MZD it doesn't exist...
Anyway, I have to agree with some of the Amazon reviewers on this...Revolution 2004 (if they still sold it which I'm glad they don't) would be good for little kids who have never seen DDR in their life and don't care about the dismal sound quality and according to one reviewer, timing being totally off. However, if you really want to get kids into DDR, I'd recommend getting the kids into the actual DDR games. For us, the only thing Revolution 2004 is good for is to laugh about how bad it is.

I actually got the pad in 2007 or 2008. I think it was a gift, dont really remember...
I actually heard of SM before I even got this pad. But I downloaded it and started playing SM in 2009.
Unlike most DDR games or ITG for the PS2, this one didn't need a console, just plug it in and you would be ready to go.
To get the same LUDR effect like this game has in SM/OpenITG, use a combination of 25% flip and -75% invert. I think I should add this mod on my Simply Love theme by editing something.
They even got the song from Titanic!

Here's another song Revolution 2004 got that amused me:
Then again, "You are my Sunshine" seems to be a common song in knockoff products...take a look at this fake Winnie the Pooh toy...

Unless it's an incredibly new NES game, I have a hard time believing it, considering how some of the songs are from the year 1999 and whatnot. it also seems to take a great load of inspiration from DDR, which wasn't even out until 1998.

Apparently "Revolution 2004" is a re-release of Hot Dance 2000, but for Plug & Play instead of NES.
