I'm not even angry, i just don't need to see literally the same people asking for a 20 over and over just because they want to see Chris or FEFEMZ play it. And while a fair amount of songs could benefit from a harder Oni charts, not every single one needs one.

Personally I feel like this is the highest probable Challenge chart. A low 18 on Expert and a high 18 on Challenge.

So help me god if they Shock Arrow it.

I'll forever be of the opinion that we need 18s-19s that more resemble Love Space War than Monkey Business before we start asking about 20s.

Max 360 and Prey are good 18's , they should make a 19 like them.

Having a chart that only a few people can clear is fine, other music games have done this. There are plenty of lower level charts for lower level players.

However, judging from the 19's , an official 20 would probably be filled with gimmicky random nonsense.

The thing is, we have 4 19s and a 19 that should be a 20. These songs are made for higher level players. Constantly asking for more is just really annoying, especially when the asking is happening right as we receive expert 18 charts.

And before anyone asks, yes ive cleared the 19s. No I don't want to do it again. Valkyrie dimension, egoism, and prev all have great 18s. I will never touch their 19s again except maybe prev.

As usual, one or two people on here say "challenge chart or 20 wanted for X song" and 20 or so people reply with "Ugh, people need to stop asking for challenge charts and 20s". I dunno how it is on other channels like the FB group or whatever, but I wouldn't say that the amount of people replying to the 1 or 2 here is entirely "justified".

It might be the same people asking for challenge charts, but it's also the same people saying to stop asking for challenge charts from what I can see. So this'll basically just keep repeating itself over and over again either way. And the cosmic ballet goes on...

While I agree that the 19's are not particularly fun (I've attempted them all and can pass 2 of them, however cannot even come close to Endy, which leads to me believe it's misrated or simply a hard 19), adding these super hard charts get people talking and I believe they do work to increase interest in the game among the people who can and can't pass them. So there's not really a downside to having them there, regardless of the quality of the chart. I don't believe the game needs them so to speak, but if they show up, then that's nice.

Konami is going more for a "playability > passability" kind of feel with DDR. There should be a challenge, a goal to reach for. But if there's more hard stuff and less easy stuff, you risk losing casual people and becoming practically a "dedicated members only" game

Edit 1: a 20 is Egoism using more 16th notes during the 440 BPM sections.

That's actually a huge part of why Supernova 2 ended up floundering in Japan outside of the Zukin Wars event and i doubt Konami would want to take that risk again.

SIngles is by far the easiest 19, and is the only 19 that has been pfc'd

Vito, I was talking about the singles chart. I said it'd be a 20 IF there were WAY MORE 16th notes in the 440 BPM sections. As it is now, it's an easier 19. Tweak it with more 16th notes to increase the note count to about 900 and it's a 20

SN 2 AC was stupid hard. There were difficult charts harder than Max 300 rated like 8s and shit. The ratings in that game were a mess, but it was definitely one of the most difficult DDRs to clear and a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE jump from SN. Yes, we can blame it on the Groove Radar songs at high level and the planet songs at lower levels, but damn. There's gradual progression of difficulty, and then there's DDR SuperNOVA 2.

This is a huge part of it, the ratings were just wrong all over the place. Seeing their re-ratings in X really drove that home. As a casual or unfamiliar player, you really had no idea how hard something in SN2 was until you were already playing it. I feel like the "intended" difficulty of SN2 wasn't that much higher (i.e. if the ratings were all correct), but there was some major disconnect between chart writers and overall difficulty guidance.

I feel like the general difficulty breakdown in A so far has been solid, lots of fun stuff in the 12-15 range which is a nice spot for me. I don't mind harder charts existing, I'm glad that a challenge exists for top players, as long as the other difficulties cover a nice spread.

I'm just going off of what Aaron Tokunaga and various others have said about SN2's reception in Japan. Shit like Paranoia Hades and NGO being 9's and the game overall being harder turned away a lot of people to the point where a lot of them just stopped playing. DDR X managed to bring a fair amount of them back since it was a little more balanced.

That is why we have the X scale. SN2 showed that the rating scale needed a fix.

After DDR X, they got rid of the little bars that show a rating out of 20, so the maximum rating no longer has to be 20.
A chart could be rated anything.

An 18 is a chart that top players can (usually) AAA.
A 19 is a chart that top players can (usually) AA.
A 20 would be a chart that top players can get an A.

I think I'm the only one who doesn't care that much about how the chart is and rather how the song would be like. Maybe it'd be a hardcore song, a more dramatic electro song (speedcore?) or hell, maybe they'd do something like a happy hardcore song.
