For the gazillionth time, it's because they don't own the songs. The owner can say "I don't want these released outside of Japan" and they can't do a thing about it.

I find that bullshit, considering they had no problem getting the earlier Touhou/Vocaloid licenses when the game launched. SEGA has had no problem getting the literally 200+ licenses for Project DIVA Future Tone released internationally for the PS4 (some of the songs of which HAVE been in the updates in DDR A that never reached outside of Asia), TAITO hasn't for their English release of Groove Coaster, and yet music game king Konami can't be arsed to do the same for their first internationally released DDR game since 2010 with much less songs? Not even the Vocaloid stuff, which doesn't even real singers you have to pay licensing fees to?

It'd be one thing if Konami was consistent doing this since day one. It's another when they stopped doing this months in. Since this summer we in the U.S. gotten near nothing except a bunch of BEMANI crossovers, commercials for a mobile game that will not be released in the U.S. a nc song, and the terrible Be A Hero.

Okay but maybe Konami just doesn't think it's worth the effort to license songs that most American players are going to play once if at all and then completely forget about.

I could argue the same for Japan, too.

Not really because a lot of these songs seem to be from anime and shit that most people in America wouldn't know about unless they have a Crunchyroll subscription and while there does tend to be a good amount of overlap between the anime "fandom" (jesus christ i hate that word) and the DDR community, the amount of people who are into both and are actually serious DDR players doesn't account for much in the grand scheme of things. So again, they probably don't think it's worth the effort to license songs that MAYBE 100 people total will play once and then forget about entirely.

Yeah, I'm still sticking to my "they licensed the initial wave of licenses for America and then just kept inking new contracts just for Asia for convenience" theory on this front.

I'm mainly disappointed we don't get a localization of these songs for that.

Let's not forget that all that 99% of you did was complain about the amount of 2hu and animu songs when DDR Ace launched in America. Make up your fucking minds.

I believe the title reads similar to "Role-Playing Game". The "RPG" in the jacket also makes me believe this.

tbh, I think you're making the wrong assumption that the people complained about too much Touhou are the same people complaining about the exclusive licenses that NA doesn't have.

The bemani community in general are split about this whole "cute weaboo garbage" songs and it isn't exclusive to DDR either (you'll see this split a lot in SDVX as well as that one also has a lot of Vocaloid and 2hu).

Here's the thing. I think the amount of 2hu and animu songs being in DDR A is a problem either way. When the songs are revealed, people are ticked for them existing or they're ticked because they exist in Japan therefore are more slots wasted by not being in localized versions. In a case like this you could say that "anime was a mistake."

I don't get to play DDR A but I still feel bad for those that have it expecting new content consistently. As of late, it seems like Konami is treating the localization of DDR A like they're bending over backwards and that's pretty shitty. Not that I expect any less from Konami, but still...

If this keeps happening, we might as well just cut the otaku pandering and release songs that everyone actually can play. Just saying.

Brilliantly put. You know, if only we could actually have some communication between Konami and its fanbase, we would figure out how to make DDR an enjoyable experience for everyone.

If Konami wanted to pander to more casual players, you would think that they would utilize their licensing abilities to obtain a wider variety of songs that the public would enjoy.

However, if Konami wanted to pander to long-time fans, they would be wise to use their own brains a little. (smile.dk revival, anyone? Or how about Monday Michiru?)

As for the licenses, a friendly reminder that RIAA exists, so licensing new songs for the US version (even as part of an update) would take weeks/months to have them put in-game if they want to.

First, there's not clean audio. Second, theres only like 2 people working on simfiles so, be patient, or do it yourself
