> two footswitches
Edit: If you slow it way down you can also see that FEFEMZ missed 3 arrows at that point, not just 1. So even if there had been 3 lives left on the lifebar, it still would have been a fail. (And that's assuming the second footswitch is nailed; if it isn't, then that one bit would've drained 4 lives down to 0.) WTF indeed.
Edit #2: Strangely, it also looks like FEFEMZ got an N.G. on one of the freeze arrows? There's 27 freezes up to that section but the results screen only shows 26 O.K.'s.
Edit #3: It also looks like the results screen has an off-by-one error?? FEFEMZ had 790 steps and 27 freezes (total 817) pass the step zone, not counting the 2 extra misses ^ that were never judged, but the results screen only adds up to 816. Wut? (The only way this could work is if N.G.'s both no longer take away battery and no longer show up as Misses on the results screen, which would be super weird.)

I'm actually scared to imagine what a 20 would be now.
When I used to picture a 20, I imagined something on par with this, maybe a bit harder, but now...I don't even know.
It looks clearable at least, but still absurd as all hell.

SOUND VOLTEX gives us a good idea:
For UltraPlayers is a SDVX 19, it runs at 200 BPM. That's slow for a SDVX 19, it's like PARANOiA Revolution, which runs (effectively) at 180 BPM (DDR 19).
Blastix Riotz can be considered in many ways the EGOISM 440 of SDVX, and it runs at 256 BPM - whereas EGOISM 440 effectively runs at 220 - and actually, the speed ratios between BR and FUP are similar to the speed ratios from PRevo to E440 - 256/200 = 1.28, 220/180 = 1.22.
Now enter Illness LiLin, the first SDVX 20. It runs at 280 BPM, a full 40% faster than For UltraPlayers, and close to 10% faster than Blastix Riotz.
Using Similar Speed Ratios, I'll take a guess that the first DDR 20 footer will be a generally difficult boss song that runs effectively at 240-250 BPM (so 16ths at 240 to 250, or 8ths at 480-500).

Why such a ridiculous overreaction to this? That part is comparable to the ending of Paranoia Revolution if not easier (1320 vs 1440 steps per minute). FEFEMZ failed to FC this only because it's impossible to sightread moderately fast footswitches into ultrafast drills at such a high scroll speed.
Also if you want an idea how ridiculous DDR 20s are going to be, look no further than Pump It Up's S25+ charts (Vacuum Cleaner, 1950, Paradoxx) - fundamentally impossible to PFC and maybe even impossible to FC.

The ending to PARANOiA Revolution has the advantage of having a long hold of which you can position your feet for prior to entering that part. Also, while it is faster, the final is also a LR drill, the easiest type there is. And only does it once - at the very very end of the chart!EDIT: Also, if PRevo had been forced to LIFE4 for a while, there would've been people reacting this way back then, too - it's never generally been the cause of legitimately ending a run. A lot of people consider to be a major WTF part as well (all of the 19's have one wtf part).

Highly unlikely - DDR has never used bracket-jumps in a chart before, whereas in PIU it's a required skill that is expected of everything in the higher difficulties.Post #5148 · Posted at 2017-09-18 07:36:14pm 6.5 years ago

Should've precised I was talking about the part before the break with a lot of 16th triplets, including one that needs to be started with a doublestep, which is by far the hardest part of that chart. Regardless of whether Endymion's part in question is slightly easier or slightly harder than either of PRevo's parts, it's nothing out of ordinary by standards of other non-Egoism 19s.Quote: wrsw

It may not have been intended by the chart's creator, but a lot of jumps in Paranoia Hades become much easier when treated as bracket jumps. The entire concept of rethoric-forced doublesteps as well as certain kinds of stepjumps (example: L-U-LR) are also inherently tied to bracketing as you can't perform them at very high speeds without positioning your feet identically to bracketing, essentially doing an asymmetric bracket jump.Bracket jumps are not even what makes Pump S25s as absurd as they are, nor will spamming them be necessary for equally ridiculous DDR 20s.
Fun little fact: almost every 880spm crossover shown so far in Endymion can be dodged by bracketing, as long as you don't care about getting greats or are very good at it like Chris and FEFEMZ. Same about most 800/840spm crossovers, laterals and halfspins in Over The Period.

Slight nitpick here, but iLLNESS LiLiN was not the first SDVX 20; when the new rating scale was introduced, Lachryma <Re:Queen'M> was made a 20. It still runs faster than EGOISM, at 236 BPM.

I'm guessing he missed the start of that missing Freeze Arrow entirely (and that actually only takes one life away, if I remember correctly). In that case where you miss the beginning of the Freeze Arrow, you miss out on two scoring pieces, but only one miss is counted. Why penalize someone a second time for letting go of a Freeze Arrow that you didn't hit it in the first place?Post #5151 · Posted at 2017-09-18 09:06:38pm 6.5 years ago

Joker CSP would like a word with you. (There are also plenty of other charts where bracket-jumps aren't overt, but can work.)

I have never seen Joker's chart until now. That looks disgusting, especially for something rated as low as a 14. Heck, it immediately reminds me of the ludicrously fast step -> jump patterns in NGO and Trip Machine Evolution, and those are both 18s.

Even though we have yet to see a 19 with shocks, I have a feeling that a 20 would include some ridiculous forced "5-panel" patterns with them on top of everything else.

Questions about official soundtracks:
Are we going to get an official soundtrack release for DDR A? Is there a good way of finding where specific songs are released, if they are released by each artist individually? Or, is this something where people have to patch together clear bits of audio to get clean versions with out "YOU'RE GOING COMBO WOMBO!!!"?
Thanks!

Pretty sure DDR A's soundtrack will probably go straight to iTunes, much like DDR 2014's was.
There are probably clear rips from the arcade data somewhere on the Internet, but this is not the forum to ask for those.

Speaking of soundtrack, where can Endymion be downloaded, since it won the CHECK songs last month, right? I remember Come to Life clean audio was uploaded at the beginning of the month when it won.

I would like to know this too. Endymion is epic and I would love a clean MP3 to listen to.
