If this thing can do full 9-panel mode then I am hype for it!

I love how we might be getting a new dance game in the US and people still find a reason to complain about it. I swear there's no winning with some of you people.
So far it looks interesting and if done right, the 9 arrows could make for some very fascinating charts.

As long as he can accept that this is a niche game and not something marketable to the general public, more power to the man. Just don't streamline the fuck out of it.

I'm already excited for this game (especially if there's a mode that uses all 9 panels); I also love that the dance pads use multicolor lights, which would definitely catch people's eyes at the arcades. Doesn't Konami's rights to In The Groove expire in 2016 or 2017? if that's the case, perhaps this is a reboot of ITG?

Bagpipe was to be in ITG 3, so it's likely crossovered from that. This is the only song we've heard in the game so far, so to say the songlist lacks new content is a bit unfair.

Really?! I was always under the impression that Konami had the rights to ITG indefinitely. I wonder if it really is a reboot or continuation of ITG then and maybe Kyle's supposed talks with Konami has something to do with that. Nope. Most copyrights/trademark expire after a certain time (usually 5-10 years), and it's up to the IP holder/publisher/whoever to renew it whenever it's about to expire.
I remember overhearing (either from Kyle Ward's FAQ about the ITG series or something along those lines) that bringing ITG back was a possibility once Konami's rights to the series expires; Konami purchased the rights in 2006 or 2007, and I believe it might have been mentioned that in 2016-2018, Kyle could get the right back if he's up to it.
I could be wrong on this, but if you would like to see the FAQ for yourself, he goes into pretty good detail (that he's allowed to say) about the lawsuit.
