*NOTE-Time has been moved back to 8PM EST!

Welcome to Project D.E.L.T.A. Max (DDR Extreme: Lots of Triple A's)

I had a fun idea to get everyone together and focused on a goal, AAA DDR Extreme together!

I guess there is a lot of explaining to do, so here it goes.

I'm sure most of you reading this are familiar with DDR Extreme and its 256 playable Expert and Challenge charts. A long time ago, back in 2003-2004, AAAing DDR Extreme was almost an unfathomable goal that few could possibly achieve after many years of hard work. However, for this event, I hope we can do it under 24 hours! To do this, we have to set up a system that I'm admittedly still working out the details and would love to hear more from everyone before we begin. For now, let's go over the basic outline.

1. Starting at 8pm EST (5pm PST) on November 20th, you may begin AAAing songs that appear on DDR Extreme regardless of which mix you play it on. The time ends once the last chart has been AAAed whether that's 12 hours or 3 days.
2. You must either have picture, video, or stream proof of the AAA. For pictures, I highly recommend putting some kind token in the photo to help distinguish your AAAs from other's. Which brings us to...
3. On the day of the event, I and a few selected moderators will be given access to a new ZIV account created solely for this purpose. They will monitor this thread and update the score tracker as the AAAs come in. Please post the proof of the AAA through either a link or uploading a photo to ZIVs Score Tracker Evidence Album. I understand if you can't upload the photos right away, but please remember to update with proof as soon as you are finished so at the end of the event we have 100% proof of each one.

To have the best results, you can start now by doing the following things.
1. PRACTICE! Sounds easy, and for the most part, it is. Just be prepared to AAA songs you are good at.
2. Preregister now! If you plan on taking part in the event, please post below and I will put your name on the registered participants list. Do you need to preregister to take part in? No! But, preregistering can help us with...
3. State what you plan on getting. Dividing the work up between many players playing different songs IS KEY. There is no point of spending 1 hour to AAA Max 300 if someone already did it... So it is always best to frequently check what has and hasn't been AAAed before you go for a song. Also, if you are only capable of easier AAAs on lower difficulties, you can still join and help out with those! Just state which specific songs or types of songs you will focus on, I will put these details in the preregistration.
4. Communication. This probably should be #1. It is vital to communicate to have the best results, whether it's beforehand to get an idea of who is going for what, what times people will play, or during the event if you are having trouble with AAAing something and request someone's help.

Okay, that's a lot of info to take in so I'll leave it there for now. Again, I am still looking into better ways to make this happen, so if you have a suggestion, let me know! Lastly, even if you can't AAA anything, you can still help out by being a moderator that day. If you are free some hours on that day, PM me and I'll go over the details with you if you plan to moderate.

I can help with anything but 10s. There's an Extreme near me so I can do exclusives.

Not sure if I can participate: but I have a question: is it required to AAA stuff on an arcade mix? I currently only have ready access to a couple of console games (MAX2 US, SN2 US, KONAMIX)

Yes, any AAAs earned during this event must be done on an arcade mix, not on console.

Thank you for the quick response. In that case, I don't think I will be participating in this. I'm likely to be busy that weekend. Plus, I have yet to PFC anything on arcade. If anything, I'd PFC one song.

I'm good to go. Let's do this. I'll be doing this on a DDR Extreme. I'll try to nail the technical ones and everything easy. It's been a while since I last played DDR Ex and I'm not pretty confident with 10s. Maybe I will, that day haha

I think it's clear that strategically, the best course of action is making sure all of the exclusives are AAAd before anything else for those of us with access to Extreme AC. If we do that, then we can not feel stressed about what mix everyone else is playing. I'm sure this was all obvious, though. On that note, I will have very easy access to Extreme and X3 so regardless I SHOULD be able to get a few AAAs in the 7-9 range if anything else.

All in all - this should be a pretty interesting experience.

I should also note that I should be good to play from 5:30pm EST til completion.

First post has been edited and updated.
We are at 14 participants with about 5 moderators. I hope to see more people opt in soon, we still have over two weeks to prepare.

Don't forget, make some kind of card or token to put in your photos or videos of each AAA you submit. Moreover, in the "comment" section when you submit a score, write your Dancer name. Moderators will help with this part if you don't have access to the account.

For now, I want to make a list of "exclusive" songs on Extreme, I just mean songs that can't be played on newer mixes. Ordinary World, Cartoon Heroes, The Reflex, Maximum Overdrive, etc.
That way we can at least divide up content up in a way that players on new mixes do the songs that carried over while people playing only on extreme can focus on the "exclusives." I'll try to get the list soon. Until then, COMMUNICATE!

I'm down to help out. GMT-8. I can PFC whatever people don't want to PFC. I'll probably do a bunch of the exclusives that haven't been taken since I'll be on an actual Extreme machine.

Smile

I suck on arcade cabs, interesting project and you have the talent to make it happen so good luck everyone.

Questions though... To AAA all of Extreme, to me that would include all difficulty levels for all songs, singles and doubles. I'd think that to be quite a feat but then I see IAMCHRIS and he'll probably AAA Road Of Legend on doubles on his first try which would knock out the five hardest songs, dude is amazing... But anyways is doubles and all difficulty levels included, if this is singles and only the hardest charts then it would be way easy for you guys.

Also from what I understand getting a AAA on newer mixes is typically easier than a AAA on older mixes, the scoring / ratings are different and even older mixes lack mods that help like darken the screen, and before that lack of speed mods, and before that 30fps arrows. So getting a AAA on a 2014 cab is probably alot easier than getting a AAA on the same song on 3rd Mix. So having a baseline or forbidden mods that weren't available beyond Extreme may need to be included in the rules and stating that getting a AAA with anything less than a PERFECT or a dropped hold does not count.

For instance this AAA has 4 Greats on a newer mix, that wouldn't have counted on an Extreme cab. https://vimeo.com/133888740

In response to your questions, this event will focus on AAAs on Single and Doubles Expert/Challenge charts only. When Dr.D mentioned AAAs, he is referring to PFCs (as that was the scoring system back in DDR EXTREME). Whatever version of DDR is available/works best to you should be fine, as we don't plan on making any rule banning the use of mods. Also worth mentioning is that revived songs on later mixes with different Expert/Challenge charts (i.e. Dam Dariram, Captain Jack (Grandale Remix)) would most likely need to be done on an EXTREME or older DDR mix. Hopefully. this answers all of your questions! Big Grin

I suggest listing all the PFCd songs in the first post as the day goes on to have a quick reference guide as to what got completed.
