I don't know if this is the appropriate thread to make this, but considering that this is a special arcade that doubles as a gigantic museum, I think it deserves a mention here.

https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/arcade.php?id=3551#summary

I'm surprised this place has been under the radar so far, but that might be because this is only open to the public during special events throughout the year.

As you can see in the video, I was not exaggerating on how huge this museum is; they also have plenty of classic arcade games in addition to the seemingly thousands of pinball machines.

I practically live next door to Banning, so I have to visit this place whenever they are open. : P

In case anyone is wondering, the Museum will be open to the public for a TwinGalaxies tourney on October 2nd-4th, and all pinball and arcade games will be on freeplay,

They will also be open during Arcade Expo 2016 on January 15th-17th.

Is anyone going to give this place a visit if they are in the area? : P

If I hadn't seen that Mario Pinball I've would have flipped (pun kinda intended) shit.

They probably don't have any DDR/BM IIDX/etc.

I don't think they do, but that doesn't mean there won't be. I can see this museum eventually having a DDR, PIU, and/or a 5-Key Beatmania machine; not sure if they would get IIDX anytime soon; it's a lot harder to find and more expensive than it is finding a DDR machine. >>

Here's a bit of an update: They will also be open during Arcade Expo 2016 on January 15th-17th.

I added some more arcade games to the list, mainly the ones that I was able to see/hear from the few videos of the museum I can find on Youtube, since most of them are shaky and/or isn't able to show the marquees because it's bright while the place itself can be dark.

I'll be able to make a bigger, more accurate list once I visit there in person in October. Smile

UPDATE (11/23)

I'm currently adding in the pinball games as we speak! Word of warning: There's no way I'll be able to add in all 800+ tables on there; I don't exactly have a photographic memory of every machine there, but there are quite a few that I remember seeing, if not played. It definitely makes the pinball museum in Las Vegas look like your average pizzeria arcade in comparison, and that place has over 200 tables, so it's not quite fair to make a comparison.

There maybe new tables that are being added since the TwinGalaxies festival back in October, and the museum staff wrote on their Facebook page that they are repairing/restoring the tables that didn't work/weren't on at the time.

Update 11/24

Added all the machines from the 60's and 70's from the Arcade Expo collection page!

I'm gonna wait til tomorrow to add in the 80's-00's machines cuz I'm not that insane. X_X

Update 11/26

Finally added in every pinball table that wasn't labeled as "Other". The Museum's page has now officially has the most amount of arcade/pinball games out of all the arcades ever recorded on the site, period (and I uploaded images on said page as proof). 8I

I don't think I'm gonna add in the rest, considering their collection is expanding all the time, and I already went nuts adding all these in over the course of a couple days.

UPDATE 10/14/17
Pinball Madness starts 1 week from today!
http://pinballmadness.com/

As their first-ever halloween-themed pinball and arcade event, there's going to be costume contests, a roaming magician, and (for an additional charge) a haunted house among other things. Tickets are still on sale.

Also a reminder: They have various Bemani games (including the ultra-rare Mambo a Go Go, and the not-quite-as-rare ParaParaParadise 2nd Mix,), as well as Groove Coaster, Guitar Hero Arcade, GFDM, Pump It Up, and HipHopMania Complete Mix 2.

We hope to see you there!

UPDATE 2/6/18

Hey guys, guess what? Arcade Expo is just around the corner next month!

And the coolest part is that we are finally, FINALLY , going to have some Jersey Jack tables added to the collection, including Pirates of the Caribbean!

Quote: MoP's Facebook page
We have an EXCLUSIVE announcement that Arcade Expo 4.0 will feature the man himself Jersey Jack of Jersey Jack Pinball. On Saturday Jack will provide a Q&A discussion about his passion of pinball and hang out with the attendees.

Who knows? Maybe we'll also see some new Bemani games added this year, and/or their GC machine will get updated to 3EX? Tongue

But if that doesn't happen, I ain't complaining because we're finally getting JJP tables as well as Total Nuclear Annihilation added to their still-growing collection.

UPDATE 3/2/18

Just when the Museum of Pinball couldn't get anymore epic, they added the infamous-yet-beautiful Magic Girl to their lineup! Only 16 of these machines were ever made, and it's possibly the first one in the west coast!

Good thing this place has all these games on free play, eh? XD

OH! And before I forget; here's the floorplan for those who are coming. I hope to see at least one of you guys on Saturday!

ONE LAST THING!

The MoP posted a video of the staff unpacking the 16 Stern tables, and they might have unintentionally showed off the banners for the next events!

https://i.imgur.com/Dz6Vkqo.jpg

As you can see, Pinball Madness is coming back in October, and Arcade Expo 5.0 will happen same time next year!

Arcade Expo 4.0 Trip Report! (AKA, sorta-update 3/17/18)

This was easily the busiest I've ever seen get at the MoP! There were consistent lines for the Jersey Jack tables (all of these games were well worth the wait! Again, hoping they are permanent additions to the lineup, since they had their own little area!), and there was a surprisingly long line for Houdini, even if one of the switches kept the game from working properly, at first.

There was nothing new in terms of music games, but they did receive some new racing games, and got one of those Beach Head 2000 motion simulator sphere thingies. They also managed to nab two Computer Space cabinets, so they now easily have some of the oldest video games in existence!

I can confirm to you that Magic Girl was display-only, and I can't really be mad at them because I'm sure they don't want to worry about repairing a game that is practically one-of-a-kind. It's not a big loss, anyway. I've seen footage on youtube complain about the game's code being super unfinished, and you still have hundreds of other things to try.

The only thing I really hated about Arcade Expo this year, was how they handled food and drinks. This year, they used a ticket system where you paid for tickets (worth $1.25 each), and if you wanted, for example, a pulled pork sandwich, it would cost you 9 tickets. Needless to say, it not only made the food and drinks overpriced af, but it also made the lines very unbearable. Specifically, the made it to where if you wanted a certain kind of food (tacos, burgers, etc.), they were all in separate lines with other items clumped in them (I waited 20 minutes in line to order a pizza, but if you wanted something else that you can only get in said line, you're SOL.)

All in all, it was easily the best event the MoP has thrown since I started coming here in 2015, but dear god, they need to bring the food trucks from a couple years ago back, or something. X_X

(Btw, if anyone dropped by there, and you saw a guy in a light blue Tortolla shirt and had his jacket wrapped around his waist, chances are you saw me.)

One last thing: The 18+ room is officially no more.

Random 18+ pinball/arcade room with the cool blacklight and neon art
2015(?)-2018

In its place is a "Star Wars" room that houses the new Stern SW table, the Data East table, Star Wars Trilogy (the arcade game), and 3 early-80's Atari Star Wars arcade games, all with a blacklight and a disco ball. All it was missing was the Disco Star Wars theme playing on loop in there. XP

Good thing this place has all these games on free play, eh? XD

I went there yesterday, and it was super fun! I played lots of pinball, Mambo a Go Go, Guitar Hero, Mario, and plenty of other games. My dad is actually somewhere in that picture, since one of those Star Wars Premium pinball machines was actually his! The way it worked was that Marco bought 16 new pinball machines from Stern to be bought by anyone for a discount, given that the machine would be playable at Arcade Expo 4.0. The good thing is that, well there were lots of new machines to play! The bad thing, however, is that those 16 machines won't be staying at the Museum of Pinball, and will be shipped off to whoever bought them (including my house Laughing Hard ).

Anyway, I might have seen you there (I was wearing a Dave & Busters jacket and a light blue shirt), and I do agree that the food situation was certainly not the cheapest nor the quickest by a long shot, but it was still really awesome to see and play all of those retro arcade games and pinball machines. To anyone who is still thinking about going, you should! Today is the last day!

I think I might have seen you too; I thought it was a Dave & Buster's shirt, but then again, that might have been a different person? XD

It's pretty cool your dad is a pinball distributor! I had a feeling that none of those machines that were lined up against the bowling room were gonna stay; most of them were the new Star Wars table, and the others were other games the MoP already owns (ACDC, Guardians (Maybe, considering there was one on the opposite side of the wing), and I think a Metallica). My guess is the one Stern Star Wars in that little disco room is their's.

I don't know if the Spooky Pinball tables will stay (I know at least Total Nuclear Annihilation is permanent), but again, crossing my fingers the JJP tables will stay as well, or at the very least the MoP will buy one of each game before Pinball Madness; let it be heard throughout the land that JJP's Pirates is one of the greatest pinball tables of all time! (I even got a high score on it! Tongue )

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DYjs1ZuV4AAMVNg.jpg:large

For those who couldn't make it, the next time the MoP will be open is for Pinball Madness in October; you can check out the arcade page over yonder for more details: https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/arcade.php?id=3551#summary

UPDATE 3/28/18

Norman Reedus visited the MOP for one of his shows! Big Grin

UPDATE 10/3/18

It's time to bring back this dead thread (pun intended) for Pinball Madness 2018!

While the event isn't going to be as big as Arcade Expo, MoP will still bring in new pinball tables to their collection! This time, they've added Deadpool, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, and even Heighway Pinball's infamous Aliens table. Hopefully, the Jersey Jack area has been left intact, and they'll have the production model of Pirates, as well!

I already have my ticket for the 20th; who else is going to be there?

(Btw, I updated MoP's page to include a brand new event they've introduced, Arcade Pinvasion, and added the Tickets link for AE5.)

UPDATE 10/12/18 1 week left til Pinball Madness, folks!

In addition to the games mentioned above, we also have Thunderbirds coming, as well. To quote Etika, "Thunderbirds?! Why dafuq are you here?!"

UPDATE 10/17/18

Only 2 days til Pinball Madness! (Also, I'll be there myself on Saturday!)

I have some good news and bad news: Good news is that at least Houdini is a permanent addition to MoP's collection.

Bad news is, unfortunately, every Jersey Jack tables except Dialed In seems to have been removed. All the more reason to hate Thunderbirds' inclusion, especially since it's sitting in the place where one of the Pirates of the Caribbean prototypes were during Arcade Expo. ;D

---

UPDATE 10/20/18 (AKA, The Pinball Madness 2018 TRIP REPORT!)

I had fun, as usual; The beauty of coming to this place is that if a game/table is broken, there's always another one nearby you can walk right up to. Sadly, Groove Coaster 3 seems to like to shut itself off, claiming something's wrong with the PCB board (though I think that might have to do with a couple of spazzy kids getting into the coin door; they also constantly hogged the machine when it was working. X_X).

The arcade room saw a couple new additions: They added a couple of 18 Wheeler machines, a couple of (broken) Arctic Thunder cabs, and a few gun games, among a few others (Arm Wrestling is also another new addition).

I've already talked about the new stuff they added for the pinball room; I was able to play the newer tables at least ones (Deadpool, Aliens, Thunderbirds, etc.). Deadpool was a blast from the one and only time I got to play it, and Aliens was definitely the nicest-looking of the new tables, though it constantly broke because we all know how infamously shoddy Heighway Pinball's Alien tables are. For those with time to kill, here's in interesting read on how they croaked: https://thisweekinpinball.com/twip-the-fall-of-heighway-pinball-new-info-on-elvira-3-iron-maiden-le-more/ )

But I will say one thing: I'd much sooner play Aliens than Thunderbirds; there's no beating around the bush here: it sucks. There's not much to shoot, and when you're able to nail ramp and sorta-ramp shots, they don't feel satisfying, there's no indication on what modes you need to start (or how to even start them), and the callouts sounded pretty muffled. Oh, and did I mention it has has THE most uncomfortable flipper buttons in pinball history? Tl;dr, the buttons have convex/rounded edge that poked out, and it feels so uncomfortable to press because of it.

If the guy who buys these tables somehow reads this, I need to tell you this: Get your money back or sell Thunderbirds, and get another Jersey Jack game instead, specifically Pirates of the Caribbean (though I really liked WOZ and Hobbit when they were at Arcade Expo, but PoTC drew huge lines for a reason... >>)

Oh, and before I forget, the Wildcard room (which is what I'm now calling the room formerly known as the 18+ room, from now on) became a circus themed room, probably because they have a "funhouse haunted maze" right outside the facility. ;P

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dp-mVlyVYAAlqPS.jpg:large

...

ARCADE EXPO 5.0 IS COMING NEXT MONTH! Time to revive this dead thread, once again. ;)

http://www.arcadeexpo.com/

I'm not exactly sure what is new, but I'm sure Stern's probably gonna bring their new Munsters table over. Maybe we'll get lucky and American Pinball will bring over Oktoberfest as well. And, of course, I want Jersey Jack to give them a Pirates.

...

10 days left!

I think, (emphasis on think ) Charles Martinet might show up; I say this because a few months ago, I remember the Museum of Pinball's FB or Twitter page showed something off regarding him. I don't know if it was an implication that there's going to be a meet and greet with him or if it was something else entirely.

Would be nice to ask him if he played those Gottlieb Mario tables he did voice work for (and didn't get a cent out of) if he shows up. (Fun fact: Those same pinball tables were the first-ever "games" that Charles voiced as Mario, before Mario Teaches Typing came out. ;) )

...

5 days left til day 1! Tongue

So, we're finally starting to see what's in store for this year!

So far, we now see that we have a Big Lebowski pinball table! This one is a pretty big acquisition because the makers (Dutch Pinball) seem to have been getting back luck regarding the license, and one of the owners of the company fighting cancer during the lawsuits. Supposedly it's a fun table, though!
https://www.facebook.com/arcadeexpo/videos/407815459981795/

Another change they did was they got someone to mod their Space Odyssey table to include chatter from the Apollo 11 mission to play alongside the bells.

https://www.facebook.com/imotoarcade/videos/1300569863416471/UzpfSTY0MjIxMjM2MjUyMDQxNDoyNTgyNzkwMjM4NDYyNjA3/

Last but not least, Mike Vinikour of Stern Pinball will be holding a seminar during AE; It'd be awesome if there was a game reveal (Elvira 3 maybe? XP) a la what you see a TPF, but that's a pipedream. XD

...

Final update before AE 2019!

So, it looks like the boutique pins (i.e. Aliens, Thunderbirds, Houdini, etc.) have been moved to the opposite side of the first row of tables you see right when you walk in the room; does this mean all the JJP tables are back in the, well, JJP wing?

Also, MoP received 10 NIB tables from Stern; I'm gonna guess half of them are the various models of The Munsters? I'll be excited to play the Premium model, since supposedly it's an easier-to-get-into type of game

https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/53877508_2589926554415642_9149410913311260672_o.jpg?_nc_cat=108&_nc_ht=scontent-lax3-1.xx&oh=6cef8088231736423d655a9b48e8d178&oe=5D071744

Not sure what the other half is, since it's super hard to see the labeling this time; Maybe at least one Beatles? I'll freak out if there's a Supreme machine, since that would beat Magic Girl as being the rarest table in MoP's collection, assuming it's not a rental.

...

Update 3/16/19 (Arcade Expo 5.0 Trip Report)

(I didn't sleep more than 3 hours this morning, so if I'm brief, that's why. ^^;)

As usual, there was a good chunk of new stuff for both the pinball and arcade rooms, this year; as mentioned before, The Big Lebowski made an appearance (with uncensored audio, which honestly took me by surprise considering they used to have The Sopranos in the 18+ room a few years ago), and I almost didn't get to play it because there were 4 guys who kept hogging the game for over an hour; right when I finally got to play it, one of the staff was all, "hey, can you make it 4 players?", so it was quite apparent everyone else didn't get a turn until I pried off the last group's hands. The one game I played was pretty fun, though I kinda wish I had a bit more time with it.

the other boutique pins had decent lines, so I didn't get a chance to play any of them this time (hell, even Thunderbirds had a line of 3 people every time I walked past it. 0-o). On the bright side, though, Wizard of Oz and Hobbit are back in the Jersey Jack wing alongside hobbit, but Pirates was nowhere to be found.

I got to play a round of the silver and gold edition Beatles cabinets, and I honestly can't really tell the difference between the two outside of the backglass art. Still a fun game to play for a few minutes, though. Munsters had decently lines as well, but thankfully I got to play a game (albeit with an occasional glitch where I'd get more than one ball when it wasn't multiball).

The arcade room practically got a facelift in terms of layout; there's now tapestries showing off the INDISC champs hanging on the ceiling, the racing/fighting/shooting games now have their own rows, and a few of the music games (one Mambo a GoGo, HipHopMania, and GFDM) have vanished. However, we have a few new interesting things in their places, like an Air Combat 22 machine (with the motion stuff turned off), 2 Initial D cabinets, a deluxe Cruisin' USA double-cab, and a full-fledged motion simulator that sometimes worked ( I thought about going on it, but there was a camera inside, and I would probably look pathetic going in there by myself XDD). Speaking of sometimes worked, Groove Coaster was first out of order when I first arrived, but then got turned on, and there was a surprising amount of little kids that were playing the game (thankfully, they weren't the spazzy kids from last year); the game didn't shut itself down, but the right blaster kept having problems; first, the button would stick down, and then would just not register at all.

One last thing regarding GC, I asked one of the technicians if there were any plans of upgrading it to 3EX or newer, and the guy told me that they couldn't because they're worried if they turn the wi-fi on, they'll get in trouble (apparently, it's a "bootleg" cabinet).

I'm honestly shocked Billy Mitchell still made an appearance for that Kong-Off thing they were doing in the arcade room; maybe the staff have been keeping a close eye on him, making sure he isn't cheating?

There wasn't much of a store/market presence compared to last year, and the area where the haunted house sits appears to have been unused for some reason.

As for food and drinks, they still used the ticket system and offered basic fare (burgers, hot dogs, pizza, tacos, sandwiches), but at least lines weren't a big nightmare like last year, thanks to them having more than one place where you could buy tickets (they're now $1 per ticket, so the prices of the food are a bit ridiculous, i.e. $10 for a burger, $9 for a chili cheese dog, etc.) Still wish they had brought food trucks instead, if I had to pay that kind of money for lunch/dinner. ^^;

tl;dr, I had fun as usual; they could make a few improvements to the overall experience, but amount of games to play is well worth the price of admission. Btw, I've read some reviews complaining about the price increase, and I noticed it as well, even when I bought my ticket early, but you have to keep in mind that MoP is non-profit ; I'm assuming all the money goes towards 4 things:

1. Buying new/used pinball and arcade machines,

2. Repairing said pinball and arcade machines,

3. Paying the staff/technicians, maintenance of the building, power, etc.

and 4. Possibly renovating and improving the facility itself; after all, they added an outdoor patio overlooking the musician stage and haunted house a year or two ago, so your money isn't going into the owner's pockets.

It's Pinball Madness time, once again!

Same stuff as last year, (the Funhouse Haunted Maze, the costume contest), but they've added a new thing, this year: Tango classes/dancing on Saturday. Word of warning, btw: ticket prices jumped up a bit. Friday and Sunday are now $50 while Saturday is $65.

So, sorry to necrobump this page, but this is huge news: the museum will be moving to Palm Springs sometime in the near future. As of writing this post, there's no online article, but I took a picture of the front page of the local newspaper as valid information:
