So do which song or stepchart do you think amazes the average person the most when played well?
I'd say Fascination MaxX. It looks scary the first time you see it with all those steps roaring by at breakneck speed.

CaptivAte ~CHIKAI~ had a good WOW factor, first time I played it. I really liked the end, and didn't expect it. I would normally assume those funky beats are just replaced with solid 8ths, like DDR usually does.

Well, alright! I'll take that.
I was referring to what song amazes the common folk the most when played well.

First post, woo!
I'd have to say I get the most wow for Max 300 (Super Max Me Mix) on Challenge, mostly due to the fast jump runs in the middle and the death-run at the end
As for ITG...i'd say Vertex on expert cuz of the chaos, the speed blast at the end, and the mines basically taking up the entire screen, haha.

Konoko no nanatsu no oiwaini gets some pretty good reactions due to the sixteenth note trills in the middle of it, as does, if done correctly, the turns and spins of Under The Sky (a fun, yet technical, 6).
Although I have no personal experience on this one, Healing-D-Vision Oni's ending will definitely get people to take notice

I gotta say Pluto Relinquish, zooms at you at the start only to instantly slow way down, and then speed all the way back up to 800 freakin BPM. I think its the only time i actually laughed looking at a ddr level.
Max Period's 600 section also had a pretty big wow factor.

PARANOiA -HADES- (Single and Double - CHALLENGE stepcharts) has also a WOW factor on it's last 300 BPM part.

I’d have to say Chaos. All the stops everywhere puts a completely new level to difficulty, and it’s not been done before (at the time it was seen).:3

also, (though its not that shocking of a level anymore), the orginal Max 300 pretty much took the world by storm when it came out

Ahaha that's funny :p did you record that ?
I think Ska A Go Go in Heavy has not a WOW factor but a WTF factor at the end (and for the little slowdown part too). lol

The Felm BPM stops also surprised me when I saw it for first time.

If you want to count In The Groove songs… When I first say Vertex^2, that was unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

How about playing Sakura on heavy, x2, boost on, dark, reverse, mirror, and with the back facing the screen?
I've seen someone did that. (Kind of like a show off, but he just need to remember the chart.)
I think the difficult (standard) already does that.

Agree. that 12th note run at the end of a standard song is pretty crazy

It's a 16th note run. Even worse! But for a Standard chart to have more voltage and chaos than a Heavy chart is...a bit weird...

Dream to Nightmare from ITG3. As far as gimmicks go, that is the absolute worst song out there.

Yes, but this is a DDR thread.
