Is anybody having troubles with the NoteSkins?, it gave me always crash everytime i use that NoteSkins, can someone help me with this please.
I tried each of the noteskins from the DDR X2 thread that NRG linked, and none of them crashed. What exactly did you do when adding those noteskins? If you deleted the default noteskin, that is your problem. The engine requires the noteskin named "default" to keep from crashing when stuff is missing from other noteskins.
Nope, i do not delete anything on NoteSkins Directory, i just put the noteskins of X2 there. :/, actually, when i play with default noteskins, everything works okay.
What exactly does the directory structure of your NoteSkins folder look like?
Fixed :v, Haha, i deleted the midi-note Noteskins, and i dont know the DDR X2 simfiles redirect to that NoteSkins, but its working now :3
Yes, that is why your log file (and the on-screen error reporting) contained this:
Quote

Next release, I'm making it so that if the fallback for a noteskin doesn't exist, that noteskin won't be loaded for you to choose.

Also Kyzentun, in SM 3.95/OpenITG, in the metrics i can choose which NoteSkins can the User choose, and also i can hide default and others than i do not want the user can choose or see, in SM 5 can i do the same?

Use Simply Love or Consensual.
Allowing noteskins to be turned on or off easily requires the themer to implement a special custom menu instead of using the engine's noteskin menu, so very few themes have that feature.
I believe one of the problems with 3.95/OpenITG was that people had to manually add noteskins to the metrics when adding them. SM5 looks through the noteskins folder at startup and creates the menu automatically so they don't have to be added manually. Hiding selected noteskins requires extra work that bypasses the automatically made menu.

Edit: Guess manually editing in noteskins was the theme's fault in OpenITG:
Quote
< nepgear> Kyzentun: actually, 3.9x could list skins automatically just fine
< nepgear> Kyzentun: but itg-derived skins don't do that.
< nepgear> they just wrote the damn line out
< Kyzentun> Welp, guess I was wrong then.
< Kyzentun> I've just seen threads where people mentioned manually adding skins to the metrics, which seems lame.
< nepgear> yeah, that's the damn itg skin's fault, not the game

Oh i see, well, anoter question, how can i enable the Records like DDR SN2, if i get a good record, i can put my Name and when someone select that song, can see my record score and ID in the Loading Song Screen, actually i get the record #1, and finish the credit, but the score entry screen never appear on DDR theme and also in default theme, i have enabled the Records stuff in the Options of the game

Hello, I apologize for the bump but I found something that should be very useful for those who are concerned with the order of the songs.

UPDATE

Here's a better list that excludes removed songs (like most of the X2 and UMU licenses) and is also color coded based on origin/events Big Grin

http://bemaniwiki.com/index.php?DanceDanceRevolution%282014%29%2F%C1%B4%B6%CA%C1%ED%A5%CE%A1%BC%A5%C8%BF%F4%A5%EA%A5%B9%A5%C8

It's a list of all of the songs in DDR 2014 as well as the order in which they appear in their respective folders. This should be especially useful for the 2014 folder since it's kind of a jumbled mess based on both recency of songs and how those songs were obtained (EXTRA ATTACK, Replicant D-ignition, Yuniver Hills, UMU, etc.).

Also, has anyone figured out a way to order the songs without using TITLETRANLIT? I tried using both SongManager PreferredSongs.txt and SongManager PreferredSort.txt and nothing happened (I don't exactly know what does what).

I also did all this in both the _fallback and 2014 metrics:

DefaultSort="Preferred"

[MusicWheel]
UseSectionsWithPreferredGroup=true
OnlyShowActiveSection=true
HideActiveSectionTitle=false

Nothing happened.

When I did this in the 2014 metric:

[MusicWheel]
ModeMenuChoiceNames="Preferred,Group,Title,Bpm,HardMeter,Popularity"

It crashed at ScreenSelectMusic and I had to re-download the theme. I'm using 5.0.10 if that explains anything. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.

"Just Play Along"
That is very convenient to have. Nice find! Thank you very much. Unfortunately I still have no idea how to order the songs in the folders as they do in the game.
I did try something among the lines of what you describe, but it just ordered the first folder that appeared in the song list and kept that folder permanently open (even when opening the other folders it wouldn't close, nor would any other folder be sorted as i stated in the .txt file)
I reverted it back to the normal method since that was kind of unconventional.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm guessing we'll have to resort to TITLETRANLIT? I'm guessing groups.ini doesn't work, I tried using it for Risk's DDR NG theme but it didn't work. I guess my only concern is sorting by ABC.

The weirdest thing for me is that it works on the default SM5 theme and even allowed me open and close folders (until I screwed something up and now the folders don't even appear), but I can't get it to work on the 2014 theme since there's no "Preferred Sort" option in the theme, that's probably why it crashed when I did this

[MusicWheel]
ModeMenuChoiceNames="Preferred,Group,Title,Bpm,HardMeter,Popularity"

I guess the only thing I need to do now is figure out how to arrange the folders in reverse order like in the arcade, without messing up the colors or making the graphics disappear (happened both to me and someone else).

Meaning 2014===>1stMIX instead of 1stMIX===>2014

Oh well, back to square one, I know what songs are in what folder so ABC sort.......
https://remywiki.com/images/c/c7/DOESN'T_REALLY_MATTER.png
THAT much.

You must edit your current theme's "Other/SongManager PreferredSongs.txt" (below is only a sample for you to determine the format):

--- DDR 2014
DDR 2014/Destination
DDR 2014/HAPPY LUCKY YEAPPY
DDR 2014/chaos
(and so on in any order you like...)
--- DDR 2013
DDR 2014/Monkey Business
DDR 2014/Air Heroes
DDR 2014/Blew My Mind
(and so on in any order you like...)
--- My Favorite
DDR 2014/Destination
DDR 2013/Monkey Business
DDR X3 VS 2ndMIX/Amalgamation
(and so on in any order you like...)
--- ITG 2
ITG 2/*

asterisk mark means it displays everything from that group in alphabetical sort if you prefer not to type them one by one.

I already did that unless........what way are the slashes supposed to go, I keep seeing both this " \ " and this " / "!? Maybe THAT'S my problem! Also do I have to change .txt to .ini?

It's forward slash "/".

Go to "Save As", "Save as type" to "AllFiles(*.*)" and change the file extension. The file you are working in is a txt file, not ini. Sorry for typo.

Okay, I've been using backward slash " \ " since I saw someone else use it. I'll try it out now. It's gonna take some time since I already got 1stMIX through 2013 done and replacing the slashes will take some time, I already made the necessary changes to _fallback so wish me luck and I'll get back to you on that, thanks! Back in a jiff.

Thanks for the info and btw, I love what your doing with BGA's, it must take a LOT of work to find and get everything done. I think I'm gonna stick with TITLETRANSLIT for now until another solution arises. Until then all I wanna know now is how to put folders in reverse order without messing up colors or graphics. Thanks to razorblade as well. Happy fucksgiving Big Grin

I will upload a backup when I get home. Gimme about an hour Depending on my upload speed ;)

My internet hates me so it's gonna take like 5 hours to upload according to Mediafire. I'll have it up by tomorrow.

A mirror for the background dancer videos has been added to the first Step! Smile
Of course I take no credit for these, they are from Risk's thread.
