Hello everyone! I've been a lurker on these forums for some time now and haven't really bothered to post anything until now! As a huge DDR fan, it comes as exciting news that DDR Tournaments will start being held at Gameworks in Newport, KY (Basically Cincinnati, OH) starting in July. I myself have already entered the tournament. The entry fee is 10 Dollars and I believe you get a free 30 minute game card just for signing up and attending. A picture of the information sheet can be found here: http://i.imgur.com/AIeYoKj.jpg

The woman who talked to me about it as I was playing Extreme said that if we can get enough people, cash prizes could even be a thing. Just thought I would share this information here!

EDIT : The tournament is on Thursday, July 9th. I believe it starts at 5 or 6pm (sorry for being unspecific about the time, going off the top of my head here)

I've cross-posted this to the Ohio DDR facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1464923623735759/) and tagged some people that might be interested.

My assumption is you're in some way involved in the tournament (which is fine). As a warning, many of the players in the area are high-level players and will expect a certain level of maintenance on the pads, so if they are not up to snuff, it will cause a lot of backlash and a rapid drop in interest.

Of course if you're actually just a player in the area, disregard that warning haha.

Hi! I live in the area and was just at Gameworks not too long ago. I just saw this post from ranatalus' Facebook post, there are a few things that have to be addressed before tournaments can take place.

The X2 machine still suffers from the "pads change the speed mods" wiring/glitch, and probably needs new sensors (I wouldn't know because the aforementioned wiring issue makes the game virtually unplayable). If you plan on doing anything with the X2 (which would make sense as it's the most recent version GW has), this has to be done. I and a good half-dozen other regulars used to go on Thursdays when the cabinet was in functioning order, but there's almost no reason to come back since it went down.

That said, the SuperNova probably needs a new monitor and pad maintenance, and I think the 2P side on the Extreme needs work as well.

I really hope these things get addressed, if not for the tournament, then to at least get the Cincinnati DDR scene back.

Its a wiring issue. Cross wiring. Not sensors.

Sorry for not replying for a few days. I am actually just a player, not anyone who works at Gameworks, but because I usually go once a week and play, the employees noticed and told me about the tournament. I think these cincernsconcerns do need to be addressed. I agree that the supernova needs work as well as the 2p extreme. Thing is, I'm not sure if the staff will understand me if I tell them what can be done. The manager told me they only have 2 arcade technicians, one of which only works mornings. I think one of the techs came up to me and asked about the performance of the machine because he mentioned how well I was playing despite the complaints he has heard. I wasn't really sure what to say because the pad I was playing on ( extreme 1p) did in fact perform relatively well.
