Hello friends, I've decided to try to port the Takuya's DDRX theme to Stepmania5. I'm new to SM theming, but I have made some tries in SM 3.9x series to do themes. I am using the resources included on the DDRX V4 theme of takuya, plus some additional rips/dumps from myself. I am starting to change some graphics and multimedia files like sounds and videos, if someone wants to check it out, clone, download or join to the theme development, this is the github repository:
https://github.com/MadkaT182/DDRX
Actually has a copy of the default theme, with some graphic changes. The activity would change due to my real life work. This is a hobby to my free time. Thanks for reading!
Coments, questions and suggestions are welcome. ;)
To-do List for a first release:
- Difficulty select on select music screen.
- Song List on course select screen.
- Fix the course type selection screen.
- Fix the song wheel on course mode.
- Some minor fixes in existing screens (position, commands, elements that are not dissapearing from screen, etc).
- Fix lifebars position and other elements from gameplay screen.
- Add a little pause time to the cleared screen for showing the full combo animation in some cases.
- Modify the battle/rave mode gameplay screen.
- Add some missing fonts and arcade graphics placeholders (like thanks for playing screen).
- More things that I can't remember at this moment

Would be wonderful if you could get the AC X graphics. I'm sure someone could give them to you, but these people may be hard to find.
In the meantime, looking good so far!

Yes, the Takuya version is missing some things, for the missing things it could be useful that the users can post videos or photos from real ddrx machines, this would help to align and complete some things like the game over screen, the ranking screen, and the arcade unlocks and missing logos from PS2 version, they would be re-created if there's no way to get the dump/or rip from the original arcade
thanks for supporting and commenting this thread.

You should take the DDR X2, X3 or DDR(2014) themes for screengameplay, Groove Radar and Difficulties
Re-edit: more screenshot of progress, please!

You've got long ways to go, but the amount of progress shown from the screenshots make this project look promising!

Calm down ;) I'm learning SM Theming, the Musashi X2 theme is similar but is not equal, the progress is slow, but It will become better then more I code ;) the idea is to make it more complete than the 3.9 version, due to SM5 theme flexiblity, I only work in this an hour per day. In the first link is always the lastest version of the theme to test yourselves
when the theme is equivalent to the 3.9 version or usable to play I will change the [W.I.P.] label in the title. There is also a lot of resources that I have to rip and remake, like the game over screen.
For the questions about the radar, is working, but is not the same size of the original DDRX, I need to make screenshots with the emulator to test and compare, and the shapes are not the same. One SM theme has a lot of elements to check, test, compare, adjust and it will not be fast. This will be a long wait. But will be a good theme ;)
And now the screenshots:
The actual select music screen, there is the radar activated, but is not the final version, still need a lot of edits. Also the header of the theme has a bug and is showing on front of the song banner:

This was a lot of time ago, but I've not showed here:

Full combo system implemented, needs some alignment, and I'm ripping the DDRX/Ultramix series noteskins too as a parallel project to release after the skin completion with the announcer ;) I haven't unlocked all the noteskins in the PS2 emulator, it will be a long time too. The disney wii version noteskin is finished like is shown in previous screenshots. I also need to rip the shock arrows and try to edit them separately for the simfiles that doesn't have 4 mines inline. There is still a lot of work to do, but it will be worth.
See ya friends ;)

I've actually got a noteskin that's really accurate to the DDR X noteskin if you want it. (By this I mean it's pretty much the exact same, even as far as the mines being Shock Arrows)
I can also record some gameplay of DDR X for you if it would help you with getting things like graphics, and the like.
