"My paw is incompurrable!"

Last updated: 2015-04-27 02:56pm
I got curious when this was introduced in DDRMAX. Most casuals who played with me didn't quite understand how it works that made me go LOL inside. One of the players I saw thought it was a long tap so she tapped it repeatedly. It even happened on two freeze arrows so she was jumping in the process. Another lifted his foot up right at the beginning, thinking that it's just a large arrow. I turned the freeze off for him since he didn't quite understand me when I told him how it works.

What about you guys? As for me, I believe that it really was a step to be held continuously on the pad since it looks largely different from a tap. It's a neat and fun addition as well. (Especially in Break Down!)

There is a screen that literally tells you how to do a freeze arrow (Unless you're on Expert, which these people probably weren't) so how the hell do people get these wrong? I mean, the 'repeated tapping' method is actually valid, but thinking it's a large arrow is dumb as shit.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

Wow. that's kinda sad, especially when the game tells you how the Freeze Arrows work right on the screen.

when i played ddrmax2 for the first time when i was young i thought that you had to step repeatedly on the freeze arrows also. luckily some nice person at the arcade told me i didn't have to do that lol.

I actually step repeatedly on the freeze arrows still, if there's no other arrows to hit while the freeze is on. Actually a good way to keep the beat.

Just hitting it once and instantly taking your foot off is dumb tho

Well it is a good idea to repeatedly step on the sensor during a freeze, especially if the sensor is bad (not as sensitive as it should be). I almost lost Max 300 due to N.G.ing the freezes because I wasn't stepping hard enough on the sensors Oops

I never really had a problem with freezes, myself. I actually had more difficulty with jumps when I started out, lol. Although, as of late, I've been having a touch more difficulty placing freezes, given that I've changed my playing style to include more turning. D2R Freeze Special kills me a bit, 'specially near the ending.

I understood freezes right away, although that might have been because by the time I got into DDR, it was already part of popular culture. I already understood what a freeze arrow was before I had even played.

I got the hang of them pretty quickly though I did used to have to tap them. I was a pretty tiny 9 year old when I first started playing so I'd end up dropping them if I just held my foot on the pad.
