Update:

-New order = No broken, glitched or either bugged BGA's. <= Let's leave that to the BGA'sDevPack.
-New particles effects and recoded some.
-Widescreen Support
-Added a few BGA's

--Note: Kaleidoscope is really hard to do. Can't find a way yet.

I guess that I'll work on DDR5th BGA's now.

So this has been here for a while and I haven't been working on it for a time now.
I want to know if it's worth it to keep with this project or maybe close it, and work on it privately.

Continue please, you are doing a good job, I think that the bganimationas that are hard/impossible to code could be done as videos. Or when the project is complete, create a random movies pack, to use with the post 5th mix releases, is just an idea that I have Very Happy

Thanks. =) I'll keep working and leaving the thread. I think I started this also because of doing light backgrounds.

Nice idea to recreate the graphics Cool they look so nice in HD, hope you continue and create more, I've teste some 5HD and Konamix but some of them gave me errors, I'm testing them on SM 5.0.9, I left a screenshot of the Animations playing in the 3rd mix hd theme:

I wish to contribute to the project, but I'm out of time at this moment. Maybe I will help updating some sprites to doubleres. I will create a setup to play it on the TV Wink Keep it up, and continue with this project, And thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks. I'll keep working on it as soon as I end finals week. I'm still up to learning Lua and trying to do the kaleidoscope.
Btw it's amazing you're doing a 3rd MIX theme.

Here's something I've found out. The size of the sprites being ripped out is WRONG as the sprites are half the size to be at good ratio with SM same size as PSX. (For example a sprite ripped raw is 64x64 but in SM the size should be 128x128 to have the same size as PSX) - All of this because it's 32bits, so it's good to use Photoshop to resize it to the double.

Oh lol. I just noticed that I didn't use characters. If you want to you can delete the Kaleidoscope folders (the ones with K01 and Kaleidoscope)

That happens if you try masking o.O

Yeah. And I already managed to do the other one. I can't upload anything because currently I don't have a PC or laptop.

Update. There's now a guide, the kaleidoscope and a new sorting system explained in the guide folder.

The guide can be found too in the GitHub.

There's two minor details with 56B and Sprites default.lua, the 56B one should be without ReversedSpin and Sprites should have referenced the SpriteSpin.

Hi,

Just dropping past with a request. Is it possible for you to make a list (even if it's a text file) with what each folder represents? It would be very handy as I'd like to start coding bgchanges for the old songs using these animations but not knowing what each folder is can make the process difficult.

Even if it was just something like:

Folder = Effect/What image transition it is

So for example:

FolderName1 = Image swap of background image to jellyfish
FolderName2 = Kaleidoscope effect clockwise
Etc.

If you could provide that I can get a faster start on the bgchanges for the 5thMix songs and if that works out I'll move onto the 3rd/4th/Konamix/Party Edition ones.

If not that's cool too but I just thought I'd ask since you'd know what each folder is and it'd be quicker than having to work out what each one is from looking through code etc.

Umm. I said before that there was a "guide"/folder with pictures that represent the folders, and there's a text file explaining the terminations to understand what they do.

You can find the guide within the WinRAR, the folder it's called BGA's Guide.

(I will post this info in the main post, like right now.)

Ah it seems I have an old set of your BGAs which didn't have that folder. Thanks for including that, sorry I hadn't realised I had the old version of the files.

Hopefully I can get some 5thMix bgchanges happening now! If I can get some good results, would you like me to send you through the .sm's (just the sm files, nothing else) so you could include them with your BGA's so you can give the complete experience of 5thMix in terms of BGAs? It might take me a while due to my busy schedule but I think it's possible.

Yes, sure. Also I will try to not change the order of the current BGA's so it won't alter the scripts. I think the order I have chosen is ok.

Thanks for that, it'll make my life much easier knowing that I won't have to change all the bgchanges if you make changes.

The bgchanges are going well. I've done a number of songs now. I've run into a slight problem though. Specifically with the song B4U glorious style, I can't seem to find a few of the animations.



The animations I can't find so far are:
At 34 seconds - I found the images in your folders, I just don't know how to trigger it - it's in: Backgrounds then it's the files 8 and 27. Do I need to do something to make that cross image cut?

At 44 seconds I've substituted the "rolling diamonds" that use the dot particle effect as a background with the BGA 5th017AB-D (I'm assuming you'll eventually add the correct one though since you've got both assets in the folders).

At 1:10 I used the "ParticleEffects" option under GlobalBGAnimation but it doesn't have the heads spinning - also, will this folder change over time to allow for other effects that are in there? (I also ask this about the Backgrounds folder as when Backgrounds is selected, nothing seems to happen). I'm sure there's something I'm missing as I'm used to doing BGChanges with movies, not animations.

At 1:13 I can't find the rainbow dots anywhere, I had a look through your guide images and couldn't see them and I can't seem to find a file for them in your sprite folder. Is this somewhere or will it be added later?

At 1:27 I can't seem to find that blue background with the circles animation either.

Other than that I can find the rest of the animations for this particular song.

I really do appreciate the massive amount of work you've done on making the background animations so clean. I never fully appreciated just how good they look until I put them beside my actual DDR 5thMix while I've been coding the bgchanges.

I'll upload one of my bgchanges as a video to YouTube when I can to show you the progress. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out. I'm really looking forward to finally being able to have a set of bgchanges for the older songs.

First video is from DDR 5thMix, the second video is with Engine_Machiner's animations. I think I'll have to work on the timing/speed of the animations but so far, I think it works great! Apologies for the misses, was playing it on my pad and my sensors are acting up.

I'll tweak the delays, still there are songs that have quicker delay and others that have it slower. That could be a problem. (Not talking about BPM, talking about the animation delay respect some songs)

Still it looks good, I will try not to change the actual folders.

Notes about your doubts:

-0:34, Will add it, within 5thBG---

-0:44. I will add it on the next update, still I wouldn't recommend you to override them (just to avoid confusion)

-1:10, Will add it. The folders are unique, and as you can see I classified them between just one of their similarities, most of them are because of their background or interaction with it.

-1:13, I still haven't find out how to manipulate very well the rainbow effects. As the sync related to them.

-1:27, Will add it.

About helping, I don't really know, most of the hardest parts are the code itself using actors or tweaking with ActorFrame. I'm just going at my own pace with it because sometimes I don't have time.

Ah fair enough - though we might be able to control that delay with time stretching within the bgchanges code? So depending on how the song uses it, it will be the right speed. I'll have a go later on when I have time (just tried it quickly and changing the Rate % doesn't seem to effect BGA files).

That's awesome news about those animations. I totally understand being busy as I am myself, just thought I'd find out what was happening in terms of those animations (i.e. if I was doing it wrong), glad to know I wasn't.

Within the 5th022 set, can you make another folder with the words going downwards? Hot Limit uses that text in the colour of 5th022E going downwards rather than static/going up. Same goes for 5th004, again Hot Limit uses the animation going downwards rather than upwards.
