What does Burton have? Because that's literally the only hope the East Midlands has.

But yeah, from what I know:

Derby: literally nothing.
Nottingham: sort of average EM2 in the AMC in the middle of town, Legendary Derby Crapocab Fusion in the Tenpin.
Leicester: sort of average EM1 in the Megazone towards the north of the inner town, allegedly something near the University but I hear it's an EM1 so not really worth it.

I'm currently not in the UK so, while the East Midlands wouldn't be impossible for me to reach normally, I'm afraid I couldn't make this even if I wanted to.

I'm amazed any of the machines work that well after all this time and abuse they've likely received, especially given that we had so few arcade releases and EM1 and 2 were the most numerous (good machines and great mixes for their time though).

Anything that's still here is sadly not worth going out of your way to play, it's very run of the mill.

I know I'm a little bit late to the party here, but there's a fairly decent supernova at Hollywood bowl in Leicester. It's at the meridian which is a bit out of town unfortunately but it's not too far by car... Me and a friend went last week, and aside from the left pad acting up a bit the machine was in good condition and we had a good session.
Also, I know it's west Midlands but Birmingham has a pretty good Japanese supernova at the odeon at Broadway plaza, again a little far out from the centre of town but not too hard to get to.
Anyway feel free to send me a message, would be good to get more people playing together in the area. :-)

Without a car its hard like myself to get to locations and did try Leicester Hollywood Bowl but buses from Leicester runs 1 every hour :-( and again Birmingham can get there by train but again comes the traveling :-( but would 100% be up for meetup !

Yes, very hard to get there without a car unfortunately! There used to be better bus services as well... it's a real shame. But getting a taxi as a group from the centre of town can work out fairly cheaply. Do you have Skype/WhatsApp btw?
Also Brazen, thanks for the offer but I wouldn't go round someone's house without knowing them in real life first. Tongue

The Leicester SN cab has been removed now apparently and has been replaced with a bad EM2 cab.

Em2 cab in nottingham town centres bowling alley (AMF?) has broken speakers and you only get half the range of sounds but the pads work fine...
Fusion cab at tenpin had literally 0 volume last time i were there and the pads were so poor i could only barely pass 8's with 0 greats goods or boos/almosts.

Basically theres nowhere over here worth playing now unless you wanna play the DS 1.5 in derby. and even thats 50/50 on whether or not the cab has booted up properly that day.

complained many of times to NAMCO at Tenpin Nottingham to get better machine but nothing being done unless more people complain about it..... DS 1.5 in Derby no longer there as I went 2 weeks ago and again NAMCO removed it..

also AMF now changed to MFA Bowling

Just wish some arcade owners would listen to there customers feedback and bring some better Dance machines :-(

They still have the 1.5!? Last time I checked they got rid of both Fusion and 1.5 and put a ping-pong table in.

I hadnt been there for a few months so I was going from our last visit. If its gone then theres even less available.

Arcades are not going to get new dance machines in full stop even if we all complained because they are mostly all chains and outsource their machines to distributors who only stock whats popular. Maybe if you got in touch with a manager/owner of an arcade who could put in a special request. Or if an individual bought a cab and got an arcade to look after it for them (which is even more unlikely because if you had your own cab you'd want to keep it somewhere its not going to get neglected. Look at what happened to the DDX when that was in London)

I updated the Tenpin page in October '14, no idea when the changes were made. As late as Augurt they moved their Em2 to the front of house, I never got a chance to go in and gauge the quality.

Resurrecting this thread as I'm generally frustrated by the demise of DDR machines (at least in the Birmingham area!).

The Supernova in Broadway Plaza is no more (that was removed at least a year ago, and still wasn't there when I checked over the new year).
The EM2 in the Bowlplex opposite is now an EM1. The pads are better, but this is more of a downgrade really.
I even checked the EM2 in Stirchley (Southwest Birmingham) the other night, and that's now an EM1.

There's an EM2 at Tenpin Dudley, but that's quite far out for me.

I wouldn't mind travelling out with a group of people to visit a decent machine, but right now it seems a bit hopeless. Sad

Derby's getting a Hollywood Bowl in the spring, so there could be something in there but I'm reserving judgement until it actually comes out.

(Also isn't Birmingham West Midlands?)

It's possible...! Could be worth having a look in a few months.

Yes, but I'm expanding this thread for some reason... also, I did used to live in East Midlands (Leicester). Tongue

Another place I might check out is Star City. I've never been and I could get lucky with finding something?

I know Star City has a Funstation arcade, which is ticket-based so good luck with that. My missus works in Nottingham's Funstation and there's been people asking for DDR since it opened, and I think if they could get one they would have already.

I think an in-house bowling place is the best shot for Derby, there was an actual arcade with a SuperNova just outside the shopping centre's foodcourt, which is pretty much the area with the biggest footfall, and nobody used it there. An arcade on its own just isn't profitable in Derby (and anywhere in the UK that isn't a seaside resort tbh), it has to be tied to a bowling alley.

In Lincolnshire. Fairly mediocre collection of machines down here, a EXTREME, EuroMIX1, EuroMIX2 and Fusion.
