Let's imagine what difficulty ratings (either in the old or new level scale) the DDR songs would get. We must only pick the songs that didn't exist when DDR games had the pre-X scale if we want to rate them in the older scale (this includes songs that were in DDR HOTTEST PARTY 5) or ones that have not been re-rated for the new difficulty scale. We can also include liscened music and songs from the other DDR games (like the CS and Disney games).

Here is my list:

(Old Scale)(Single)
- WILD SIDE (Beginner:1 Light:5 Standard:7 Heavy:8 Challenge:9)
- Romancing Layer (Beginner:1 Light:4 Standard:7 Heavy:9)

(New Scale)(Single)

In spite of me agreeing with Arrow&Beats that you should contribute to the other threads about that subject, the X-rating ones are off IMO. I have these ratings in my Stepmania...

So Deep: 3-5-8-14 <-There is no way this is a 15. I AA'd this LONG before I even passed Cartoon Heroes Heavy:.
Vertical: 1-3-7-10-13. <-Heavy reminds me of Da Capo. Challenge seems like a 12 due to a low-step count but it's a 13 due to the jump patterns. This is the problem when people use Stepmania as a guide and don't actually try to step it themselves. It's why I first thought the new Starmine was a 14 but when I actually stepped it, it's a 15 due to the jumps. Jumps are far more draining than 16th clusters.

I don't think a 9 on EXTREME could ever jump to a 15 on an X-scale rating. Personally, So Deep is a hard 13 for me on Heavy.

New scale Heavy -

Butterfly (Upswing Mix) - 13 (13 on Challenge, too)
vol.4 - 13
max. (PERIOD) - 16/17 (unsure on this one, probably a 14 on Challenge )

MAX. (period) Heavy on the new scale would definitely be a 15. I can't see it being in the same ballpark as most 16s, and I can't see it being in the same atmosphere as any 17. I agree with Challenge being a 14, though.

I thought the 600BPM speed-up would bump the 15 rating to a 16, considering that unless you wanted to use 1x, you'd have to memorize the entire ending.

The BPM speedup at the end isn't complex enough to bump it into the 16 realm. 600 BPM or not, it's still just simple patterns with nothing but 4ths. Just like doing 8ths at 300 BPM.

Anyway, I guess since it's here, might as well comment on the topic. I think So Deep Heavy is a difficult 13. Probably not a 14, I'd make Cartoon Heroes a 14 though.

So Deep's patterns are pretty consistent, so I can see why people would think it's a 13. Agreed on Cartoon Heroes being a 14, though.

One thing I'd like to know, is how many of you all think Flash in the Night should be a 13 or a 14. Having played it on ITG, the damned beginning and end trips me up too much... Coming from someone who consistently passes stuff like Konoko no nanatsu no oiwani and B4U (Voltage Special) rather consistently.

I'm also still firmly planted in the belief that some replicant-D-action 14s would be 10-footers on old school, like Pierce the Sky, and Possession Standard just to name a few.

I have Flash in the Night as a 14. The one I want to see debated is Fantasy. I have that as a 14 too and wonder what others think.

This is why I'm glad the old scale is gone. I just keep thinking about these old scale ratings and then realize that Paranoia Hades Standard was an 8 but is now a 15.

So Deep is most likely a 13, since the gallop patterns, while dense, are extremely simple. Cartoon Heroes I'd put around the same.
Cartoon Heroes is a high-end 14, looking at 15s like Trip Machine Phoenix and Xepher, which it's JUST a notch below. I'd also (maybe) put Waka Laka there, since it's a bit simpler than Unreal.
I'd also put lots of Ultramix charts around the 14 area (G2, 250BPM, Love Me Do, Grandolin). Mad Blast and Outer Limits (pre-Festival) could be hard 13s.

And you people are fucking crazy Max. (Period) is not a 15, 16 at minimum. Besides the speed-up (which lasts 125 notes, 133 if you count the 8 8th notes right before it which lead directly into the stream), the whole song is filled to the brim with short ministreams and even the slowdown is possible to get tripped up on due to bizarre syncing. Look at Mei, On The Bounce and MAXX Unlimited. Those are all considerably easier than Max. (Period)

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I started to question my own sanity because everyone here is so intent on Max. (Period) being a 15. I'd say challenge is probably a 15, heavy is a 16, but perhaps one could move them each up one level (probably not though).

Really? Besides the 8th note jackjumps, I don't find the file to be all that challenging (outside of extra mode). If you can get past the first 30 seconds, the rest is passable. There aren't any killer streams either.

Also, in terms of ingame songs that are rated wrong, there's no fucking way PSMO is a 16 and Saber Wing is a 17. Sure the latter is a tad bit faster, but much less consistently draining and the death run is shorter.

can half agree with this other then the 300 bpm shitty crossovers (<^> to <v> as a crossover change is shit no matter what bpm)

they're hard to double step but eh, agreed that it's a 16

Well, Sabre Wing Challenge is much harder than On the bounce Challenge imo, think it makes sense for it to be a 17, even though it's an easy 17.

Also, does anyone else think PSMO should be a 17 or is it just me?

And I should've said why I think MAX. (period) is a 16, possibly even 17.

- 8th streams at 300BPM? Made max 300 infamous.
- 4th streams at 600BPM? Same fucking thing, except using anything more than 1x means you can't read it.

Well, you gotta think of why they probably chose PSMO as a 16. It'd be up there against the likes of Faxx Heavy , Anti-Matter Heavy , Pluto Relinquish Heavy , etc. if it were a 17.

PSMO just really doesn't hold that much of a candle against most of the 17s to be honest, sort of like how we don't have IX Challenge, Elemental Creation Challenge, or Trip Machine Evolution Challenge as 19s because they're nowhere near as brutal as VDO and PRevo. Saber Wing Challenge should probably be a 16, though.
