Top 5 Best And Worst Fan Bases

I once found a very interesting YouTube video which I can no longer find. It had some interesting claims. I remember it claiming that Treasure fans have a good sense of reality and Phoenix Wright fans equate any criticism to stupidity. What do you think are the top 5 best and worst fan bases without simply stating that they are a fan of their respective bases?

Honestly, we can't judge them as a whole. It's like judging a race for actions of a select few.

Worst: Metal fans.

Let me explain: I don't mean everyone who listens to metal music. I mean the elitist blowhards that seem to be the most vocal who do nothing but complain about everything that isn't technical death metal or black metal, and refuse to listen to anything unless it has at least 30 sweep pick arpeggios per song.

Ahem, anyways.
I find most fan bases have their good sides and their bad sides. I enjoy watching My Little Pony, and the fans can create some beautiful and artistic stuff. But also we have people who just seem to scream over every single thing that happens in the series.

Also Rhythm Games. I love rhythm games, and all of you guys are really awesome. The one thing I don't like about the rhythm game community is a lot of the elitism that just develops due to the nature of rhythm games themselves. The entire "I'm better than you so you suck, fuck you" attitude that certain people can exhibit sometimes is really disgusting, in really any community for that matter. Just look at any ITG vs. DDR debate.

So yeah, any fan base will probably have a vocal minority that makes it much less pleasant, but they also probably have redeeming aspects to them as well.

Though I do have condolences for any person who is just a fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog games. I'm sorry your fan base misrepresents you so badly.

One of my friends is the sort of person that is a massively overly obsessive irritating fangirl, and yet claims she's part of the cultured minority. She also claims Queen as overrated whilst deepthroating Linkin Park.

League of Legends fans, they'll argue for hours on the right way to do things. I have several friends like this. I lot of times I have to excuse myself.

The best fanbase has been DDR, ever since 2003 they've grown with me, played with me, I taught them, they taught me. Wonderful pretty much throughout.

Best fandoms: I personally think the tokusatsu (stuff like Kamen Rider, Ultraman, etc.) fandom is generally quite friendly mainly due to the relative scarcity of the fanbase. In all the toku fansites I've joined, everyone seems to really click, and the only trouble we get are from people who are either A. Obnoxiously hating the American adaptations of the shows just because they're not Japanese, or B. obnoxiously hating one show just because it isn't as good as its predecessor.

As for worst fandoms, the Superwholockians come to mind. I mean, the kind that obsessively ship characters.

MLP fanbase

tbh the fanbase is half the reason i left that fandom in the first place, it's just so... bad

i know there's that one guy who's well known for marrying the plushie, but there's so many more people just like that. i mean they're not marrying stuffed children's toys but they're still calling the characters their girlfriends. and it's not even like a waifu thing where it's not completely serious, these people really think that these characters are their girlfriends

Maybe there are some who take it too far, but I personally love the brony fandom since they make so much good content, particularly music, that I'm able to make a whole 50 (and next year 100) position chart that tracks it. Not to mention the massive fan projects like Turnabout Storm, My Little Investigations, Pink Side of the Moon, Legends of Equestria, Moonrise: A Metal Symphonic Opera, and many more.

sure, those people are great. but that's like 40% of the fandom at most

If you're offended that someone doesn't like the Target fandom or whatnot, then please pause for 5 seconds and realize this is a rhythm gaming website.

No one should feel insulted unless they feel the need to take this seriously at all.

I dunno, metalheads are probably some of the most chill people I've met.

I probably just haven't met the really elitist ones. I'm sure they're out there, but I haven't seen them.

I'm not saying we should lock the thread because I'd get offended. I don't get offended easily. I'm saying the thread should be locked because it's a completely pointless debate with little-to-none redeeming value. Nobody will learn anything about anything from this debate. At least, nothing constructive. And it's pretty much impossible to judge an entire fanbase just from a few, so it's a null topic anyway.

They're a lot more common online (or at least more noticeable online) than in the real world, though I have run into a few of them at concerts and such. Go on any YouTube video for just about any metalcore/deathcore band and you're bound to run into them. Hell, you can even go on an Arch Enemy or Soilwork video and you'll see a lot of "wahhh screw this mainstream bullshit why dont they have all growlz anymore and its not technical and wahhh etc"

I say this as someone who has enjoyed a variety of metal genres and subgenres. The elitist crap needs to stop. The elitists unfortunately seem to be the loudest voice in the room, making reasonable level-headed people who enjoy it look bad.
