Is the Game Shark compatible with Japanese PlayStation 2's for Japanese PlayStation 1 games including Beat Mania games.

I don't think so. If its a Japanese Game Shark then I'm more inclined to say yes. I don't even think that Codebreaker would work either.

You need to be really specific about what hardware you plan to use, and how it's been modified.
As it stands, you cannot use a Gameshark with a Playstation 2 - there's simply nowhere to plug the device into the console.
If you plan to use a CD-based boot disc that allows memory patching, then you need to make sure the console can boot unlicensed code while in PSX mode. For a lot of people this will work, but it might also depend on how the hardware has been modified. If the console hasn't been modified, then it will depend on the boot disc used.
Basically, you need to be really specific, and hope that somebody else has tried the same hardware / software combination as you, or just try it yourself and see.
