Nah, it's the weighted-rating you see in forums where users with high ratings have a higher power in their ratings.

So that's why my rating goes up when I rate someone a 5. XD

And this unconditional ban seems good, unless someone signs up 20+ accounts just to ban someone. You probably already worked out something for reregistering.

Ok, I had the calculation wrong back in that other thread...

It seems that 5% of your rating times the actual rating is added to your initial rate, so 100 pts +5 = +10? Totally guessing here, I'm not too off, though.

Al, will you even need a ban button anymore once you reach a rating of 1900? XD Hand out some -100 rating bans.

If your rating is 0, your rating effect has a scale of 100%.
If your rating is >0, your rating effect is (1+(rating/100))%.
If your rating is <0, your rating effect is (0.75-(-rating/100))%.
If your rating is <-75, your rating effect is 0%.

So, this means that if I go through and rate everybody (practically everyone would get a positive), there'd be a fair chance of my rating going up. So in effect, it encourages people who care about rating to rate everybody else.
Could have um, okay, it won't have any real effect, except when people show up and behave poorly.
We could just band together, everybody gives everybody else a +5, and 3-5 people working together can ban someone who isn't liked by anyone.
Glad this community is mature enough not to mess around with ratings to ban people just for kicks.

Oh, and btw, for your case of rating < 0, you could just add the rating, instead of reversing its sign and subtracting it. Make it much simpler to understand.
So it becomes "(0.75+(rating/100))%".
Remember, two negatives DO make a positive.

I thought that too, but I figured people would read 75-(-rating) as 75-# and 75+rating as 75+#.
