Be excited.
I really just don't play anything other than DM, haha. I'm sure they're cool games though. (They're also getting Dance Evolution apparently).

Hey BC people! I might be moving to Vancouver next year or so. I was wondering how’s the arcade scene around there? From last page I read some place would get a Nostalgia machine and a DE as well, that’s pretty awesome! What about other Bemani games? Are any of them online? Are they usually crowded? And do they have non-Bemani rhythm games too? PIU especially?
Any input is appreciated!

Hey Zodiak! Good to hear there may be someone else here
All Bemani games in Canada are offline :/ Unless Round1 expands up here or something, that's the way it's gonna stay.
The two main arcades left in the area are E-Spot and CHQ. Both have entries in the DB with pretty accurate game lists:
https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/arcade.php?id=1602#games (e-spot)
https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/arcade.php?id=1601#games (chq)
CHQ is a smaller space in a *very* busy mall (Metrotown); it's usually fairly busy, though nothing crazy. E-Spot is somewhat bigger and generally less busy, it gets decent traffic on weekends, especially later in the day.
The scene isn't exactly crazy up here but it's not dead, there are still folks actively playing most popular games in both arcades. Whatever you play you'll probably find at least a couple other people playing it.
BTW, news for any BC folks who care - E-Spot's IIDX 17 machine's screen is fixed. It was showing only shades of red for some time, but when I went in this Monday it was fixed and someone was playing it.

Thanks so much for all this info! From the listings there, you guys have a lot more good games than anywhere in my province. I’ll definitely hit those X3 and Sirius cabs when I come visit.
It’d be great if Round 1 ever came to expand in Canada though, because having 2 DDR A machines in a country this big, and them being so close to each other really sucks...

From Facebook, all these just arrived at E-Spot:
"Jubeat CLAN, Crossbeat, Nostalgia, ReflectBeat, Museca, Pop N Music 24, Dance Evolution & Guitardora (Canon Ball -- BeatMania IIdx ver.25). But no Sound Vortex this time. ... & Groove Coaster 3 ... Mario and Sonic Olympic, TEKKEN 7, Street Fighter V"
being set up over the next few days.
whee!

All still won't have e-amusement right? IIDX is still CB and jubeat is still clan and IIRC both won't boot offline.

If they can’t boot them, why would they even get them? I really hope they can make it work. Or is it a sign we’re going to get e-amuse?

2018-11: I dunno, I'm just reading the FB page
I'm pretty sure the earlier Gitadora revs work offline now (they haven't actually said which rev they're getting yet, I don't think). I don't know about the others, but it'd be a pretty big mistake to buy them if they weren't playable. I honestly can't believe we'd get e-amusement so I'm assuming they'll be offline playable somehow, but it'd sure be a nice surprise
---
2018-12: so...I asked, and they said:
"We'll have e-amusement cards"
so....yeah, wow. that's insane. still not gonna believe it till i see it
---
2018-12-18: So, e-spot facebook page shows gitadora (looks like matixx) and iidx cannon ballers up now, along with jubeat clan, museca, reflec beat, a recent popnmusic (dunno which one), groove coaster, nostalgia and some other stuff. I'm gonna go down there tomorrow to check it out.
---
2018-12-19: Updated the E-Spot arcade page with (most of) the new games. There's a new Reflec Beat, but I didn't list it as I don't know which version it is.
IIDX Cannonballers was turned off at least until 6pm when I left. Gitadora is now on, as are all the other new games - IIDX is the last one not yet turned on.
popn is usaneko. museca is 1 1/2. nostalgia is op. 2 (I...think? It may be Forte, will check). groove coaster is 4.
They've turned GFDM V8 off and taken it out, but left V7 up, weirdly. IIDX 17 and popn fantasia are both still on as well.
2018-12-21: IIDX Cannon Ballers is running (since yesterday), so all new games are now up. Reflec Beat is 悠久のリフレシア, the final version. e-amusement is working (on an unofficial server) for all new games except Gitadora; we're still waiting on the server implementation for that, it's expected in January.

Recently a new spot opened up in Victoriaville called Party Zone 51.
Sure its not opened to the public all the time since its a event planning place but, its a really nice spot and i'm personally helping with maintenance on any foot rhythm games they'll get. Two weeks ago i got the OK and went ahead and installed Extreme Pro on the DDR cab there. Owner who i'm friend with told me that he's probably planning on adding a PIU cab as well.
And might get a second DDR cab with a blown monitor and blown 573 and i'll help him restore it and turn it into a SM cab so in terms of dance games, there might be some good choice there in the future.
All games are on free play, entry fee is 10$ and usually opened to the public on Tuesday from 7 to 10 PM with a tournament going in the back, this week was Goldeneye 007 and next week will probably be DDR which i will be helping out with.
If you're ever in this area of the Québec province on a Tuesday, i do encourage dropping by! The fact that there's a cab in town now means being able to revive the rhythm game community in Victoriaville and i do help new players get started with DDR if they've never played before.

"BEEJAY REVEL A" |
Cross-posting this here partly cause I am curious and partly to resurrect the Canada thread.
This mysterious DDR cab with an Exteme marquee has popped up at Landmark Orleans. A month ago it was off, but tonight it was on with an error code on screen. Looks like it's running an older mix, but the thing is modded with USB ports and is using an LCD screen.
Anyone here own this / know what's up with it? I chucked when I first saw it because I joked prior that the theatre needs that typical DDR cabinet.

Ok, so I’m in Vancouver now and I’m planning on visiting E-Spot. They do have the machines online and paseli enabled according to the page here. How do we go about getting paseli?

Hey Toronto folks, long time DDR / ITG player from Alberta returning to rhythm gaming.
I would love to finally play DDR A at DB :-)

just a heads up to anyone in Montreal; there's a new arcade in Laval (Amusement 2000.. the same one downtown) that has a PIU XX and a Stepmaniax cabinet.

It’s actually the one downtown that moved there. So no more XX in Mtl unless you’re willing to go all the way to Laval...

Even worse, not only the cab was moved, the entire arcade. Not that there was too much to go do there besides XX
If you ever crave playing and happen to be downtown, you can remove the dust off Forum’s Prime 2 though.

I can't believe they closed it down what a damn shame... I legit thought they were just opening up a new location... can't understand the reason behind the move. Maybe cause Laval has more families? who knows. really sucks

kinda late but i think a very common strategy is to yolo and put your arcade somewhere expensive to build your brand and then move it to a cheaper location once people know who you are and are willing to travel
