Hello everybody, i know its been a decade since Extreme 2 has come out, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it's true that if one plays in free play mode for a very, very long amount of time, songs will start to unlock? Or will I have to face the terror of Dance Master Mode. If you need more information: I have passed Areas A,B, and C and, according to a Gamefaqs Walkthrough, I only 10 more songs to unlock; and yes, I have been doing this with a controller. Any clarification or help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

As far as I know, it isn't possible to unlock songs via free play, although you don't have to play all the missions to unlock all the songs, just the ones that unlock songs (and the missions that unlock the aforementioned missions, and in some cases, the ones that unlock the missions that unlock the missions that unlock songs).

Yes, you can play through Free Play to unlock each song, however you still have to buy the songs in the shop and I highly recommend you go through Dance Master Mode to unlock the songs instead. It might not be the simpler method, but it's definitely the fastest and most efficient.
Plus, you don't have to play every mission to unlock every song in the game (although, admittedly, it is much more fun to try and 100%). Just figured I'd throw that in there.
Also: EXTREME 2 came out in 2005. One year less than a decade. Close, but no cigar.

If you have the time (and a little money) you could cheat and buy a gameshark or a codebreaker and enter in codes to unlock all the songs. Yes it is cheating but it beats playing that horrid dance master mode.

Dice Master Mode would like a word with you.

Dice Master Mode would like a word with you.
And every other mode that is similar to those two would like a word as well.

Anywho the replies are correct. You can unlock by free play, but would take longer than Dance Master Mode or you could get a Gameshark or Codebreaker if you really don't want to be bothered with free play or Dance Master Mode.

All this negativity towards Dance Master Mode and Dice Master Mode and not a single drop of Street Master Mode's stench has been present. Devastating.

I think Street Master Mode qualifies in that statement.

Would you look at that; guess there was a drop.
A single drop is not enough.

I didn't think Street Master Mode was that bad. At least you were easily able to get the songs if you tried.
I do agree that Dice Master Mode was horrible, though.

TBH I liked Club Mode from DDR 2010. Its easy and the difficulty of the songs are not enforced. You start from Beginner and work your way up to Heavy, but if you slip up (which I know I have) you drop down to Standard, Light, or Beginner depending on how bad you preform on Heavy.
