Figured this would be a good idea to make since it seems that at the least, we have a bunch of people around NYC and a couple of good arcades in the area, most notably Chinatown Fair and Tri-County (as it picked up Peter Pan's stuff). There's also 8 on the break too, but I'm not the biggest fan personally (and that's not even the best place to play ITG around these parts anyway).
Rules:
1. Don't be confrontational or overly dramatic.
Have fun everyone!
...
First order of business would be if we want the Chinatown fair meetup to happen, as per this:
I'd love to do this before classes start up for me two weeks from now, so I'm down for either the coming or the following Saturday (assuming things don't come up).

Edit: Holy shit I didn't even realize CTF is getting ITG2 back. It better be fucking set up and working by Sunday

I hope some songs are hacked on already so I can beast some 17's and leave my name on the machine forever muhahah

Well allegedly one of my friends was going today, but I haven't heard back from him as to the status of the machine.
I was considering going Saturday but I may be able to make Sunday work (I assume saturday doesn't work for you?) - Chinatown Fair is far more convenient to me so I'll be there, ITG or not. I'll be wearing a silly hat, you'll know it when you see it.
I'll be bringing cards in case customs are enabled, perhaps you can teach me your ways haha, I've been rusty and I'm trying to do 15s again.

Dude, the DDR Supernova at Toys R Us is clearly the best machine in all of New York. I don't know what you guys are smoking.

But second place goes to the US X at the Dave and Buster's - Betson cabs are of such high quality!
Honorable mention to the US X2 at Point Pleasant, 16 miss, 0g "pfcs" are awesome!

I played on the Toys R Us SN1 back in October 2011 and passed Max 300 on it.... barely. You could probably play a song with 2 steps and get 4 pad misses. Ugh, so awful, haha.
I can actually play reasonably well on US X's. Well, the ones that actually work. I haven't been to the NYC one in ages so I wouldn't know.

Sadly the one in question doesn't. I got 85s on songs I could FPC, and I only saw anyone get an A once over the three times I've been there.
Also both of the downs stick.
I've never played on the SN in that Toysrus though, I wish I had though for laughs.

I'm free on Fridays and Sundays from work so I could in theory pop down on Sunday and hang o with people.
I will be IIDXing and trying DDR again on an intense regimen.

Yeah.... it's not even worth it for laughs. If you want to frustrate yourself, sure, go ahead. But it's bad to the point where you can't even play it for laughs. Not to mention that it's not even patched.

I go to Chinatown Fair at random, partly due to my work schedule, partly due to money. I'm actually heading there this afternoon to smash arrows on the X3 machine, while friends play IIDX.

My trip is pushed back to later this week, sorry for changing your schedule

If you're a footspeed player definitely bring speedcooore 1 & 2. Specifically for low 15's you have speedcore artists, das love bop, and black lamp for example. I wish I could remember more of what I played when I was at that level.

If you're a stamina player there are more than 9000 stamina packs around nowadays so it's whatever. I have fun with Sharpnelstreamz and I know Moonearth and Blue Noah are low 15's in that pack.
Inb4 the machine is <r21 and the chinese manager doesn't give a shit + can't understand you

.

Not a problem, I'll see what I can do, but I'm not sure how next week's going to play out. I'm still going to be around tomorrow afternoon regardless playing Infinity.
I'm kind of stubborn and only want to get new 15s for me, I should probably redo das love bop and speedcore artists to ease myself back in (I used to be able to play more 15s and Holy Macaroni but I had to break for 2 months). Speedcore 1/2 is pretty much where it's at though, you're spot on. On the other hand, I played on the machine I usually do and I passed Invisible Full Moon so I'm quite pleased. Thanks for the analysis lol.

However...the machine's pretty bad, according to the last person that updated the location. r23/no customs/bad pads. I'll talk to the people working there tomorrow, most of them are pretty cool.
For everyone else, hope to see a few of you tomorrow afternoon!

Cool, I was going to do that too. I can't believe how bad the machine (allegedly) is. Considering their long history with dance games, you'd think there would still be someone around who can mod the pads.
It's brand new though so I shouldn't be complaining yet lol.
I also don't live in NYC so why do I gaf

While down at CTF on the 9th, I simply stuck to P1 on ITG, playing ONLY Easy charts -- I just felt like putting my name all over the high scores section.

As I have stated before, P1 is only playable if you are a lightweight player and/or step on the up arrow lightly enough. Not so hard to remember when playing on Easy. But, as soon as I crossed into Medium territory, I failed...

My reasoning for concluding that P1 will ONLY work well for lighter players is because I saw another guy play on P1, breezing by three 10s like they were nothing (he broke 97 on ALL THREE OF THEM), so I legitimately went up to him and asked how much he weighed. Apparently, he weighs 160 lbs...I weigh 210...
So, I decide to give P1 one last try. I got very lucky on passing Tension on SH 9 (though I was at 50% health for most of the song), but failed Pandemonium on EASY right afterwards...

At that point, I decided to pull of CTF with my friend, before I would've completely lost it...
As for workers, I knew the two people who would've been the perfect ones to turn to for ITG-related business...unfortunately,both of them were fired (on separate occasions) under accusations of "stealing candy"... Yeah, I don't think the management likes ROXOR, or the ITG community... If it's any consolation, they're both reachable on YouTube, if anyone wants to talk to them about CTF "finally getting" ITG...

Well I updated the arcade location page to reflect what I saw today.
There's still no customs or anything on the machine, but the pads have been worked on a bit and harder songs are passable now, as well as scoring fairly well. It's still a DDR upgrade at heart though, but usb support and new sensors are coming allegedly.
Obviously that can't be confirmed until they're added to the machine but it's good that they're willing to work with it, at least from what I heard.

There are plenty of very, very, good upgrade cabs so don't think that the machine has to be gimp.
I hope the USBs come soon, 12s & 13s are pretty boring

looks like i'll be in NYC on friday and saturday

Bringing this back because some schools are going to have their spring breaks soon.
I'll be at Chinatown Fair two Saturdays from now (3/1) to play some Pump again, as it seems the ITG hasn't had USB support taken care of yet, which is a shame, since I've been getting a good chunk of 15s as of late.
And also, a question: Has anyone been to Rack and Roll? (here: http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/arcade.php?id=3025). It's pretty close to me so I may make a trip at some point, but if anyone knew how good the machines were, that would be great.
Hope you guys are well, and hope to see some of you soon!

Just booked a ticket to NYC for my semi-monthly trip down on April 24th! I plan to get some spring shopping done, and plan to hit up CTF for a few hours and hang out. If anybody is free, come hang!

Gah, I wish I could make Mondays, I could go for some R&R. For the off chance you haven't taken a look at it, several people keep the arcades page for CTF up-to-date so the info there should be fresh. Watch out for possible crashes on the 4 panel machines too if you play them.
Let us know for next time (and maybe I can actually make it haha).

It's a Thurday, but I'll keep checking the page periodically. Mainly want my Guitar Freaks fix, but definitely ReRave will be getting a play.
