Does it only work on X machines, or is it useable for older machines (such as Extreme?)
If it's not, does anyone know of any program or way to edit extreme and lower songs that were not originally available on a PSX memory card?

It does work. It outputs PS1 memory card saves, which then you just need to put on a PS1 memory card.
