Again, I'm sorry if there's a topic for this already.

I remember reading about beta/location test songs long ago that never really made it into the final game. On top of my mind, this is what I remember:

Ragga Twins - Money (1stMIX) - sampled on Make it Better, obvs.
Fargetta - Your Love (4thMIX) - I still have the simfile and graphics for this, btw.
Beyoncé - Crazy in Love (UL2)
Aria - Beautiful Life (SN)
I once read somewhere a BSB song (or it was N*SYNC's?) was meant to appear on DS Euromix (or it was 3rdMIX?). There was even an StepMania video on YT with the simfile and graphics, and it looked like legit beta stuff to me.

...and that's it. Does anyone else know more about this? If you had proof of these and others, it'd be great if you posted it.

Well, that answers almost everything I had in mind. Thanks a lot! I'll thank Kon too lol.

Btw, is there any proof of Crazy in Love? I heard a banner was seen on UL2 official site, but I can't seem to find it.

Maybe slightly on-topic, a noticeably different version of A Brighter Day was used on the DDR 2009 trailers (these games would later become DDR HP3 and, after a long delay and complete UI change, DDR PS3).

There's also a beta version of Saturn from the SuperNOVA 2 location test. Though I've never figured out what the difference is suppose to me.

Adding on the post on Kon's blog, I think they thought of including PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (in roulette) in X3's PRO MODE but scrapped it... kind of like how PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (in roulette) (X-Special) was removed after X.
Also after some time, they unlocked all the 2ndMIX songs and PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (in roulette) wasn't there.

I have no idea whether it is playable on 2ndMIX MODE though, probably you have to use roulette/random to get that.

beta version of Saturn? All I know is that the audio for SN2 AC was different compared to what it is now.

Also this is the beta SN2 right? (see Why not,)

I think it was playable in 2ndMIX Mode, but the jacket graphic in particular might not have been used unless there was a method for accessing it in X3 Mode.

That's what I meant. So I guess it doesn't really count.

Erm, that did in fact make it into the final game (and I've AAAd it on all difficulties single/double) (check the score tracker) It was a limited time unlock, though. It was used to promote the "Back Dancers" movie. A terrible "movie" at that.

Xanadu was actually present on DDR 2nd MIX, although its not playable and was likely something that got scrapped before releases (I mean check out that banner!).
But wasn't Xanadu released in 3rd mix? IMO we should just count the songs that never saw the light of day as opposed to being playable in a later mix.

The difference being that the version that eventually appeared was the Konami in-house cover version from Karaoke Revolution, whereas to my knowledge, the beta song being referenced was actually the original license by Beyoncé.

Ohhh yeah. I had forgot about how the original song was intended to be in the game.

My bad. I didn't know Beautiful Life was just time-exclusive.

And yes, I was talking about the original Crazy in Love. I read somewhere they made a cover since they couldn't include the original song. Also, on a somewhat unrelated note, I think the audio for Crazy in Love is different between versions. The rap at the end of the song is not heard in the EX2 audio, whereas in UL3 it is.

Speaking of UL3, in its booklet, there's a capture of the song list showing Drivin'.

Oh, I think I have the beta audio for Saturn somewhere. It might've been just me, but I noticed the beats were more shallow than in the final version.

there's only two versions of Saturn that I know of, the one in SN2 AC and the one that's used everywhere else (DJT CS, tricoro, SN2 CS and subsequent AC releases)

The original SN2 AC version is in someone's simfile here. The official category uses the newer version.

^ I have posted it here before...

It would have been good to see Konami tack on the chart as a Challenge one.

Uranus also had a beta chart that was a tad different from the official one also. There was a speed up to 312BPM at the very end of the song. Regardless of the speed change, it still is at most an easy 14 on the X-scale and nowhere near a 10 on the classic scale. There is also some jumps that are seemingly to "nothing" in the song too which is probably why it got tossed.

Here is a quantized version of the chart to the "official" BPM changes...
