"Wow, 4 types of corn!" |
Hello, Zivtonians, and people I've seen across the web elsewhere anyways. Some of you have already seen this but I'll make it known here as well since it could be useful.
(I'm copy/pasting from different places for different parts of data so I apologize for the potentially fragmented English)
http://aaronin.jp/MasterDDR_NEW.xlsx
This is an overambitious "little" project of mine
I will put up an Excel file *that is not finished yet* just to show how I am laying out the initial table. From there I can put it all in a DB and have a front end for the user to use (or make a standalone Win app perhaps)
Purpose : To allow users to determine the total number of AAAs available to get on a certain mix or collection of mixes of the user's choice as well as search the available song list over one or multiple mixes and/or matching other criteria to narrow down a list of songs.
Some plans and features include:
* Should also allow for counting all charts regardless of difficulty, including beginner, 3 panel and 6 panel
* Should be able to remove duplicates across mixes except when the duplicate was changed in some way (chart-wise, different cut, etc.)
* Should allow for special cases where the same song has different charts in different mixes
* With Min/Max BPMs and planned fields to indicate Sudden, Gradual and "Stop" BPM changes songs can be searched by a specific BPM or range
* Plan to add Artist names
* Songs can be searched by difficulty using any rating system used in the series as applicable to the corresponding song (e.g. Stomp to my Beat can be searched by the old or X-scale rating, but Strictly Business can only be searched by the old scale)
Explanation of data/headings
* I just wanted a quick tally to show which songs had which kinds of charts. I was going to extrapolate in that if a chart has an Expert chart then it must also have a Basic and Standard chart, but that doesn't always work. Also, there are songs from older mixes with no double expert charts.
* If you wish you can sort the data, group by song title and leave only songs from the mixes you want and sum the totals in the right columns.
Problems:
* Some mixes don't have an "expert" setting
* The same song is labelled differently across regions in some cases (e.g. 不沈艦Candy vs. Yellow Candy)
* There are very subtle differences in charts across mixes including quantization fixes; should those be separate charts?
* There is a mountain of data to work with
* Spacing and different characters is causing some problems matching the titles and has to be checked by hand
* There are songs like in X2 that change to a different version on the Challenge difficulty (e.g. iFuturelist, leaving...)
* Is the BPM change in songs like Curus really an intentional BPM change or just to compensate for the song sync?
* Should BPM "Stops/Pauses" be counted as BPM "Changes"?
EDIT> Sanity check on Extreme turns up 256 charts on single Exp/Cha. Also 256 on double = 512 in total to get. When I did it on the whole set (even though I am missing entries) I am getting just about 1930, so I am estimating just over 2000 AAAs to get over the entire series not including 6 panel charts, which would make 150~160 or so I think. This means that without 6-panel, 2000 AAAs might not have been possible until the new charts in DDR 2013 came out.
All this data is up in the air though, take it as you will until it gets banged into better shape. I *know* there are some mistakes in here with the BPM columns so any corrections are welcome. I'm a bit busy running around and some details get missed or I put in a placeholder and forget to check it, etc. so please feel free to correct me on anything.
/me also wants to figure out total number over all difficulties over the entire series
(Update from today)
Okay, I added 4 columns:
BPM Change, Sudden, Gradual, Stops
They are a 1 or 0 if there are any BPM changes (not including stops...maybe it should), Sudden BPM Changes, Gradual BPM Changes, and BPM Pauses/Stops.
I am positive I have some of those valuse wrong since I did it in a rush on the train off by memory so any input and corrections would be appreciated.
There are still missing BPMs and even difficulties for some obscure songs over different arcade mixes (mostly European and "Asian" releases, and DDR Kids)
