Is There Some Way To Play Only 1 Random Movie On SM5 (Beta 1)?
Already Tried This: http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/viewthread.php?threadid=5492&page=1
Does Someone Know What Can I Do?

I too wish to know this. I tried the "numbackground" trick with older versions of stepmania, but when I use it on SM5 it rotates through all of the movies.

Place NumBackgrounds=1 in Static.ini, not in Preferences.ini.
Make a copy of Preferences.ini in the same folder, rename the file to Static.ini, open it with notepad, delete everything and add NumBackgrounds=1. Save. Move Static.ini to StepMania5/Data folder.

Have you tried this? This was pointed out by razorblade in the other thread concerning this issue. I haven't tried this method out yet, so I'll give it a shot and tell you if it works.

seems like NumBackgrounds has been replaced into SongBackgrounds in current version of SM5. NumBackgrounds is nowhere to be found in latest SM5 build.

Yeah, I think that was the issue. I literally drove myself insane trying to fix Numbackgrounds on SM5. I'll give it a shot! Thanks, razorblade!
I looked into the preferences.ini under the data folder and there is no "Songbackgrounds" line, only "Numbackgrounds." Any explanation for this?

I Tried This But It Doesn't Work But The Weirdest Thing Happened, I Opened Preferences.ini To See If I Can Solve The Problem And I Saw This "NumBackgrounds=5" And I Changed The Number To 1, I Saved The File And Closed Notepad. I Opened Stepmania And It Worked But When I Opened Preferences.ini Again And "NumBackgrunds" Didn't Appear, This Is Weird.

I Think I Solve The Problem, Open Stepmania (Do Not Close It), Then Open "Preferences.ini", Click "Edit" Then "Find...", Type On "Find What:" NumBackground. If It Appears, Change The Number To 1 And Save The File, Close Stepmania And Open It Again.
If This Doesn't Work Do The Same Thing Again But This Time Don't Open Stepmania.
The SongBackground Thing Did Not Work For Me.

That's Weird, It Worked For Me, Try Doing The Same Thing But Without The Stepmania Opened.

SM5 (Beta 1)?
It's important to always be up-to-date with the latest version of Stepmania. Beta1 is no longer current. You can downoad Beta 1a here: https://code.google.com/p/sm-ssc/downloads/listThe answer lies within Preferences.ini There are multiple lines you'll want to verify. This isn't documented anywhere (that I know of) so it's okay to ask.
1. You need to use the most recent version of Stepmania. As of this post, the most recent version is Beta 1a. If you are unsure what version you are running, download Stepmania at the link above and use that.
2. Exit the Stepmania program if you are running it. In general, you shouldn't make changes to settings files while the program is running, because the program may have a different setting in memory, and change the setting back later. This can be frustrating at first, but it makes sense when you understand what is happening.
3. You need to open and view Preferences.ini in a text editor like Notepad.exe or Notepad++. Where Preferences.ini is located depends on what Operating System you are using (Windows 7, Windows XP, Mac OS, Ubuntu, etc.) Respond if you need help locating Preferences.ini
4. There are three relevant lines in Preferences.ini that each do something different, NumBackgrounds, RandomBackgroundMode, and SongBackgrounds. You need to find each.
SongBackgounds is (I think) looking for a boolean (0 or 1). 0 will disable SongBackgrounds. 1 will enable SongBackgrounds. If you want there to be Backgrounds at all, your line should read
Quote
SongBackgounds=1
RandomBackgroundMode is looking for a string (which is a programmer's way of saying "text"). If you want a random movie to be used, your line should look exactly like this:
Quote
RandomBackgroundMode=RandomMovies
Captialization is very, very important. Stepmania is looking for a very specific string, and won't see it if the wrong letters are capitalized.NumBackgrounds is looking for an integer (like 1, 3, 10, 100, etc.) and will set how many random backgrounds are used in each song.
If you want there to be only one, you line should look like:
Quote
NumBackgrounds=1
If you want there to be fifteen, your line should look like:
Quote
NumBackgrounds=15
5. Save Preferences.ini, close it, and start Stepmania again.
Let me know what happens.

Thanks For Letting Me Know This, Cause I Had To Try It Over And Over Again To Figure It Out.
Anyways, I Decided To Do The Same Thing All Over Again, I Tried My Method It Didn't Work This Time, So I Grabbed 2 Laptops And Tried To Solve The Problem:

Someone asked about this, so I figured I would try to update this to the best of my knowledge.If you are not using the most recent version of Stepmania 5, this may not work for you. The most recent vesion is beta 2a. You can download Stepmania 5 beta 2a here: http://www.stepmania.com/wiki/Downloads
Please, please upgrade if you haven't already.
So, then, here is a list of where you can find Preferences.ini in your particular operating system:
Windows XP and Windows 7
Use a Run dialog. You can do this by pressing [windows key]+[r]. Copy and paste this line into the dialog box that pops up:
Quote
%appdata%/StepMania 5/Save
You can edit Preferences.ini by double-clicking on it.This procedure should be the same for Windows Vista and Windows 8, but I don't have those and can't actually test it. Can someone try it out and respond?

Mac OS 10.6 / 10.7 / 10.8 / 10.9
Use the Go to Folder... command. It can be found in the Go menu at the top of your screen while on your Desktop. Copy and paste this line into the dialog box that pops up:
Quote
~/Library/Preferences/StepMania 5/Preferences.ini
You can edit Preferences.ini by double-clicking on it.
