There is no limit to the amount of players that may enter the best song rumble.

Perfect Attack (Tech)
Format
The tech division will be double elimination, NCAA style bracketing system with qualifiers for seeding.
Ranked matches do not start until the second round.
All songs will be played on either Heavy or Challenge difficulty.
The higher seed chooses what side of the pad he/she wants.
Higher machine score wins the song. In the event of a tie in machine score, higher perfects wins, then highest greats, then it's a tie.
2 songs wins the round.

Play Rules
The lower seed will pick the 1st song and difficulty of his/her choice.
The higher seed will do the same for the 2nd song.
The first player to win 2 songs will move on to the next round.
If each player wins one song, a 3rd song will be chosen by Random and played on Mirror (except for finals and semi-finals).
The winner of each round will move on to the next round. The loser will be placed in the Losers’ Bracket. If you lose twice, you are out of the competition.

Finals
For the final round of the loser's bracket, there will be 3 competitors instead of the customary two. The players will compete in a round robin where their records and performance will be compare to decide the two to move to the final 4.
The Final 4 will compete in a Swiss Style Tournament, where the players will play for best 3 out of 5.
In Swiss Style, each player will play each player. The player with the most victories will be declared the winner of the tournament by rule of dominance. If there is an event such as there is a tie amongst the competitors, then they will proceed to sudden death.
Sudden Death will be played using the Match Rules format. Players will alternate song choice until one player wins two consecutive songs. Should players reach an 11th song, the winner will be declared by total DP.

You are not allowed to choose a song more than once throughout the competition. You are not allowed to choose the same song your opponent chose previously in the same match.

Mods
You are allowed to use any mods that do not affect placement of arrows

During Play
• You are not allowed to make verbal noises to distract your opponent.
• You are not allowed to look/stare at your opponent.
• If you FAIL or stop playing the song for 5 seconds (whichever comes first), your opponent wins the song.
• If you both players FAIL, the second player to fail wins the song.

Best Song Rumble
Format
Players will be seeded by the previous qualifier.
The top 3 that placed in the tournament will be seeded to their place accordingly.
Players 1 and 2 will play. The winner will then go on to face player 3, then the winner will go on to face player 4, etc.
Higher machine score wins the song. In the event of a tie in machine score, higher perfects wins, then highest greats, then it's a tie.
In the event of a tie, the lower seed will choose mod and the higher seed will choose the song.

Play Rules
The higher seed for the match will have song and difficulty choice.
The lower seed for the match will pick which side to play and have a choice of any 2 mods to force for both players. If the player does not elect to force a speed mod, then the players may select their own speed mods.

Hmm, do they have any other Bemani games there? If so, I may come.

Unfortunately no. They have some pretty good stuff there though! Here's a list of what I know for fact they have off the top of my head

3 pool tables
The Simpsons
Tekken 5
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Need for Speed Underground
Ultracade (or something similar anyways)
Crisis Zone

Oh, they also have a bar that serves beer/wine. Not sure about liquor as I'm only 19.
I was thinking of adding a Tekken 5 tournament as well. Random seeds, double elimination.

lol I'll look into adding a Tekken Division then.

Only problem is their Tekken 5 is an upgrade, so there are no controller ports for psx/ps2. Joystick only. =/

As for making arrangements, I think I have a couple of friends that are willing to open their apartments/houses up for people to stay that are short on money. Alternatively, I'll ask the arcade manager to look around for GOOD-CHEAP-hotels (I live about 45 minutes out of the town that the tournament is being held at).

I would probably just head up there for the tourney and drive back down here afterwards.

PS - No controller ports?!? Aw man...I may still enter, but I kinda suck with joysticks. Sad

Don't you live in central/so fla? The tournament is AT LEAST 5 hours west of Jacksonville.

Updated first post to include a qualifier, schedule, and prizes (which are now being awarded through 5th place).

This tournament will also be the first in a series to incorporate a ranking system for DDR players in the southeast. Your rating will change with subsequent tournaments you enter pending performance.
More details on this later once we actually have everything straightened out.
